Dhondy Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 That's my conclusion after 3 innings by this team. Has fought hard, never given his wicket away despite enormous pressure, batted well with the tail, and played some delightful strokes. Hats off to VVS.
Gaurav Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Yeah atleast he fought for his wicket
Predator_05 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman All the more reason why he should be batting in the top 4. I'd even go as far as to place him at #3. Dravid looks off-colour and with two walking wickets for openers, he doesn't need the additional pressure of facing the new ball. Laxman puts a high price on his wicket and could play Dravid's role to perfection if given a chance. Let Tendulkar and Ganguly bat with the tail.
Inside_edge Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Can't agree more. The histrory and situation at hand both demanded utmost application to maintain the lead/salvag the game. The guys that didn't get it in their head and/or casual on the contrary are the ones most likely to fail in difficult and demanding games. Laxman has batted most responsibly in adverse conditions hence deserves all accolades that will come his way.
yoda Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Yes, another crucial innings by VVS. He has looked the most comfortable so far.
Anakin Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Good innings indeed. He should bat sooner with this kind of form, he's been running out of batsmen on the other end. Although I'd like to see a bit faster rate, but I'm happy with his batting so far.
Anakin Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman I'd like some clarification SVP, what exactly does this thread make Pathan given the eloquent open fair world view not so long ago. Wanderers' will be a catastrophe for India...if they leave out Irfan Pathan. IMO, he deserves to play this line-up ahead of Ganguly, Laxman, Tendulkar and Jaffer. He is India's best player of pace behind Dravid, and has a wonderful temparament. IMO, he should play ahead of Tendulkar. But India will take the easy choice, as ever, and leave him out. I don't see us reaching 200 in either innings in this Test match. An innings defeat or a 300+ run drubbing is a given. I don't see any Indian batsman scoring a 50, particularly as Dravid is coming back from injury. India will lose their top 5 for under 75 in both innings. There will be a huge hue & cry in India following this Test. This series will end Sachin, Laxman and Ganguly's careers.
Gambit Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Regarding the last line, I think Dhondy tried a reverse jinx.
Anakin Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Regarding the last line' date=' I think Dhondy tried a reverse jinx. [/quote']Somehow I doubt it, given that's not the only time similar expressions were made. Specially when combined with the awesome gift of reading mind of SRT from watching TV
Dhondy Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman With my goatmouthing record, anything else would have been fatal. Trust Anakin to fall for it. Simpleton.
Anakin Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman If that was the attempt, then good one, too bad there have been too many of those recently :hic:
beetle Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman He was good today ...but i wouldn't call him the best indian batsman......i have seen the face far too often to accept that statement.
Anakin Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Like most he's quite vulnerable to the incoming deliveries, hence the "face", but he's been quite consistent in this series so far.
shailesh Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman VVS has a 50 to show but he didn't look like the best batsman..he never really tried to dominate or showed any kind of urgency..left the tail-enders facing too many balls. If it was not for Sree, the lead would have been 130 odd. :tired:
MundaPakistani Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman The guy is one of the best players of spin and can handle bounce/pace with ease(look at his record in AUS) yet it's such a shame that he hasn't lived up to his potential....a test batting average of 42 in this day and age is well below par.

Dhondy Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman MP, just look up his overseas record. You will be surprised. It's better than many of the top batsmen.
veer Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman If opening pair does well in 2nd inning (say plays about 10-12 overs), then he should come as 1 down IMO..
King Tendulkar Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Re: VVS Laxman is the best Indian batsman Sachin is the best followed by Dravid then Laxman.
