kubrickian Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 When will India learn to pick a team on form rather than reputation ? This whole tournament for India has been about hoping that a bunch of players who had success in the past find form at some point which they didnt. Sehwag, Gambhir, Bhajji, Chawla, Yuvraj, Zaheer, all have either been out of form or didnt have enough match practice. Only Yuvraj's selection worked and most others flopped. In a format like T20, you dont have time to get your form back in any case. Right from ball one, you just express yourself, whether its hitting boundaries or firing those yorkers or doosras. You dont have a chance to take your time and score a slow 30 off 40 balls to get your form back. So its a much better bet to go with a rookie who is in form than a senior who is out of form. But unfortunately, in India it seems especially difficult to remove any established player who is out of form, despite the players' continued failures and defeats. I would have liked to see Rayudu, Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Ojha, Iqbal Abdulla, Umesh Yadav, Pankaj Singh in the lineup. Its T20 anyway. What do you got to lose ? Just play your youngsters and see how they perform. That's how we won the cup in 2007.
Lord Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Bhajji n Chawla were good in the only game they bowled with the dry ball,Zak was superb in super 8s.so that leaves only Viru n Gauti.as bad as they were,I wouldnt want Rahane to replace them.
Tiger80 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Awana should had been playing instead of Dinda and Rahul Sharma instead of Piyush Chawla .
rkt.india Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Tiwary was the only guy in this Indian team who enhanced his reputation even without playing a single game.
saneindian Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Awana should had been playing instead of Dinda and Rahul Sharma instead of Piyush Chawla . Not yet fully fit. Looked unfit when he bowled in the challenger trophy recently.
