not a big surprise. TN team can be renamed as Tamil brahmins XI . out of the 15 , guess 12 are brahmins. FYI, brahmins form only 3% of total population in TN . :facepalm: What will you get when u pick ppl oly from 3% of the total . Mediocre players who fail big time when they play for India like wv raman , sadagopan ramesh , sriram , badri, vijay and ashwin There is absolutely no hope for the future , no chance of a revolt of any kind as everyone from the clerk to the coach , coaching staff and players belong to the same religion :giggle: People here do not care about state cricket . That is so sad. Its just another form of corruption that plagues our country and cricket. We just dont utilise our population to get strongest team possible. Totally disgusting whats happening in TN. Where is the southie cheer leader yoda on this?

Team has to be selected based on talent and skill and not which caste they are from. If Brahmins form 3% of Tamil Nadu, doesnt mean they should only be 3 % of the state team and rest from other castes. Grow up from your caste reservation mentality.

It was pretty clear that TN is a weak team. Not very surprising to see them being chucked out. Mumbai is peaking at the right time and may end up winning the tournament.

The guys who form most of the TN XI are good at state level. Cant not be too many players not being picked due to supposed caste-ism who are better than the likes of Badrinath, Mukund, Vijay, Ashwin, Kartik, Balaji, Aparajith, Srinivas- thats a good Ranji side!

Exactly my point. Now lets not bluff that the team we have is the best we have got. 12 out of 15 ppl in the squad now are brahmins. and the ppl right from venkatragavan to ashwin who have played for India are brahmins. RDF, for a change, why don't you start telling us who are the possible options and replacements available to add credence to what you are posting? In the modern age, I find it impossible to believe that talent after talent (other than a bramhin) is being ignored in favour of lesser talented bramhins that too in a state where Dravidian parties have been in power for decades. Surely it would have become a huge political issue if what you are saying is even partially true. Biggest issue as pointed by many on this forum is the sport not being taken to interiors of the state. In Karnataka Ranji matches are played at Mysore, Hubli, Gulbarga, Belgaum..not sure when was the last time a Ranji match in TN was played outside Chennai.

Mostly arm twisted by rich coaching centres and private companies, it is very difficult to get a place in it if u dont have the right contact ( read money , caste , political support etc ) The Dravidian parties just dont care about this , this is a trivial issue as far as they are concerned. and Ppl here too dont really care about the state team to make this a big issue . In short , students studying in rich schools and colleges who can afford coaching centres get into the team easily . How i wish raw talents from towns like madurai , trichy make it to the team .. well one can dream :winky: . We can never get a umesh yadav or a Dhoni from Tamil nadu

I agree I have seen quite a few talented fast bowlers who couldn't quite get into Bombay state team, and the bowlers who played were far inferior, Mumbai selections then were pathetic, you had to be a certain school , minorities or people who don't have a god father are screwed. Smaller state teams, Baroda are far better then Gujarat, Mumbai, Delhi.

Yes the bigger states are concentrating only on a particular city . AFAIK the Tamilnadu cricket association rarely conducts talent hunt across the state. The ideal case should be to travel across the state , conduct trails pick players at age15-16 and groom them. But they have this stupid idea to pick from the league matches which are dominated by the rich. This is also the reason the TN players are always very good in english and are mostly Engineers . They are usually from DAV , PSBB or other rich schools in chennai who run their own coaching centres.:facepalm: The situation here is pathetic to say the least . TN will never have a player who can shine at the national level.

I always used to think it(Most players are only from Chennai) because of the lack of facilities). Better have separate teams for Chennai and TN like Maharashtra/Andhra.
