Their opponents, Mumbai Indians, are winless after three games. Sydney were without their most important player Shane Watson, who returned to Australia to prepare for the Tests against South Africa, for the first time in the tournament. They will need to get used to life without him ahead of the knockouts. Sydney replaced Watson with New Zealand's Nathan McCullum and also brought in Peter Nevill for Dominic Thornely. Harbhajan Singh, the Mumbai captain, said he wanted to bat as well because the ball would do a bit for the seamers under lights. His team also had two changes: Sri Lankan allrounder Thisara Perera replaced Mitchell Johnson, while medium-pacer Munaf Patel came in for Dhawal Kulkarni.
