R Ashwin has been named in the top bracket of the BCCI's central contracts for the first time, while Harbhajan Singh who has spent much of the year out of the team has been pushed out of the highest grade for 2012-13. The Indian board awarded contracts to 37 of India's best players, with nine getting Grade A (Rs 1 crore, around $186,000) , eight in Grade B (Rs 50 lakh, around $93,000) and 20 Grade C contracts (Rs 25 lakh, around $46,500). IMO BCCI is wasting money, seriously contract for S Badrinath? Is he gonna play for India ever again at this age? Then Why not Agarkar if Badrinath included? Raina and UV in Grade A? How come they don't represent Indian in all formats! Why Rohit Sharma is in Grade B? and Has Rahane established himself in ANY format to earn B grade? Whereas Manoj Tiwary is in Grade C. BCCI should have gone with following list - Grade A: Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin Grade B: Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Irfan Pathan, Umesh Yadav Grade C: Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra, Vinay Kumar, Munaf Patel, Abhimanyu Mithun, M Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha, Parthiv Patel, Manoj Tiwary, Piyush Chawla, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Sharma, Varun Aaron, Abhinav Mukund, Ashok Dinda, Yusuf Pathan, Praveen Kumar, L Balaji

Isnt Ashish Nehra a senior, who toiled hard for India? Wasn't Agarkar a senior before drop? My point is guys like Unadkat (Is he 19?) and Jaffar (Even though not young, but experienced and still performing in sub-continent conditions) has better chance to play for India again than S Badrinath, total wastage of money!!!

Players who play all formats, and have cemented their place = Grade A eg. Kohli, Dhoni Players who play limited or test format, and have cemented their place = Grade B eg. Raina in LOI, Pujara in Tests. Players who play any format, but have not cemented their place = Grade C eg. Rahane, Tiwary.

So if Mandeep isn't in that list he can't play for India until next season? Surely must be a rule that U-21s can come in anytime am I right? Chand & Menaria rightfully miss out.
:hysterical:

dude you cant give contracts to players who have not even made thier debut. contract is not equal to selection. players out of this set can also be selected

Based performance criteria both Sehwag & Gambhir do not deserve a Grade A contract as they have been performing at Grade Z level.
Its not entirely based on performance. Bhajji was in grade A this year even when he was dropped. Its based on what the selection committee thinks. Looking at the list, all the players who are sure to make the side in at least 1 format and has been for the past year or so, is in grade A. Grade C are the replacements and others who are selected not because they are good but because we don't have any better. Grade B are the movers, either to the top or to the bottom. Can't really find fault with the list apart from the low base salary. Someone who plays in all the formats in grade A will stand to make 500,000 $. 100,000 $ less for grade B and that is only if they play the entire year. A few weeks of IPL earns pretty much everyone in the top 2 grades, much more.

He's finished. Almost 30, injured, poor record and not even given a C grade contract for India. What will DTW do now when he returns?
This will be a bodyblow for DTW. I mean it wasn't even that long ago he was in the Test team. Even Mithun and Bhijay getting listed ahead of him lolololol. Anyway looks like his much anticipated Jan 2013 return will be a damp squib :((

whats the problem with that?? He has been India's best finisher in ODIs for quite sometime now.
+1 Also our best T20 player. He was wasted down the order in the WT20.
