Crookbond Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 btw why doesn't anyone use any word other than whitewash these days? :dontknow: England and Aus whitewashed us, so we will whitewash them. Our team is weak, so they will whitewash at home. wth. Is there no other possible result? Vengeance for 4-0, 4-0.
Lord Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 OR a decent team can up with an inspirational performance and turn a bad team into a decent one! :winky: The way you say it looks wonderful to read as a story but if you have extensive experience of "team work" (irrespective of sports or any other type of team) you will understand what I'm trying to say. An individual may win a game once or twice but over an extended period of time this is hardly important. all I am saying is that theres more to a team than sum of its parts.Ponting(n Dhoni till WC) for example are percieved as captains who got things easy.I think thats wrong as u still have to manage stars who might have egos.a bad captain can convert the same team into a group with infighting, egos prevalent if he is complacent :winky: OTOH,a captain can, like Fleming for example, turn a team of mediocre cricketers punch above thier weight.its about how u make the best use of resources,as much as the resources u have coaches I agree are overrated, but captain surely has an important role to play in framing the path for his team
TheWall Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 except Clarke and Watson... there wont be much problem for Indians...

But for that to happen, you definitely need to have your players to perform. The captain can egg the players but can't play the game on behalf of them. Therefore, no matter how good the captain is - "he is as good as the team".
CG Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 except Clarke and Watson... there wont be much problem for Indians... :hysterical: have u watched the series australians had the upperhand in the first two tests and were hampered by injuries this test.Australians will come with battery of fast bowlers like siddle ,hilfy who both have had experience along with pattinson who is most promising test bowling talent.

Mark Taylor was an instinctive captain - much like Dhoni. However, there are another class of captains like Brearley - who never led by example or had an instinct but created the best atmosphere. I think Ed Smith (Cricinfo) wrote an article on captains and said "A captain is a product of the time. A particular captain may be good at one time and may not be good at other even if he does everything correctly". I agree with it.

I agree there. Ironically, the answer your question is in your post itself - highlighted.
indiaregulator Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 How on earth are Aussies going to win a single test with such a cack batting lineup? Quiney, Hughes, Marsh, Smith, Cowan, Khawaja are all crap. Cummins, Pattinson, Starc and Watson are on the verge of dying at any given second. Warner can't play spin. Hussey might be gone soon. That leaves clarke.
kabira Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 if they have MJ in the test match...we will win easily

On most occasions, the decisions that need to be taken would be straight forward. For me, captaincy is man management. You can have hazaar match winners in your team but as you have pointed out, it depends upon how you happen to use them. But, even if someone is a good man manager, it does not guarantee success. Then another aspect steps in which is equally important, which means understanding a particular situation and being able to know when to do what. But again, if someone has both these capabilities, if someone does not have the right arsenal, he can do only so much.
rkt.india Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 It was their second string bowling, Hastings is not test class. They have better bowlers than Hastings in their domestic cricket. With their first string attack, they will be better than English pacers in India.

rkt.india Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I think they lost this Test match with some bizarre selections. Of course. Hastings does not bring anything to the plate. He has no skills neither he has pace. He is medium fast at best, not much swing or seam too.
Rohit S. Ambani Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 If selectors decide to some hasty decisions after this ENG series, then our team will be further weakened. Hope sense prevails. Drop Yuvi, Ashwin.
indiaregulator Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Still don't maintain how Australia have a semblance of hope when their quickies have never bowled in the subcontinent, their spinner is **** and their batting lineup, barring Clarke is absolutely stinking awful. We're not even sure if Hussey will be around then. I mean: Khawaja, Hughes, Marsh, Smith, Cowan, Quiney, Wade - Really?!
Rohit S. Ambani Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 ^ their spinner is bowling better on absolute roads in Australia than Indian spinners on their home spin wickets. If Monty can destroy India why not Lion?
Lord Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Cause Panesar is good. Lyon is crass. Panesar is crass too,we've made him look much better
