Simplicity is key the for Ishwar Pandey

MAN SAROVAR (Jaipur): Ishwar Pandey is on a roll these days. The lanky Madhya Pradesh pacer is a man of few words and as you start talking to him, you can feel his passion for the game. "I want to play my part well in every game and help the team win," he tells TOI. The pacer who has a good season so far, also feels that it's important to maintain the good show throughout the season. "I am trying to improve my performance in every game," the youngster says. After scalping four for 88, the MRF Pace Foundation ward grabbed six wickets against Rajasthan, becoming the best pick of the bowlers. And, a soft spoken Pandey says he is eyeing more. "It was important to bowl in the right areas and I just kept my basics right. That did the trick," Pandey points out. In the domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy, it remains a challenge for the bowler to prove his mettle and Pandey feels it's important to be consistent. "I'm just doing my job, that's my only target," he says. The 23-year old from Riva near Jabalpur knows what it takes to perform consistently at the first class level, and his idea about success is quite straight forward -- he likes to keep it simple. "I never take opponents for granted, even Rajasthan batsmen showed their pluck in the last two days. Robin Bist and Parida have played sensible cricket, but I knew what I should do," he admits. In his third season, Pandey is more matured as a player now. Having a perfect idea about how to deliver the goods, the youngster looks forward to end another season on a high. Madhya Pradesh have produced innumerable young talents. Some of them have made a mark in the circuit, while others have flattered to deceive, and one hopes, a promising talent like Pandey too would leave a mark in the long run. For Pandey, life has just taken a turn, and the Jabalpur boy is ready to live life fullest!

Does anyone find it suprising that this MRF Pace Foundation is set up in Chennai, which probably has the toughest conditions for bowlers ? Forget bowling, the place is like a cauldron most of the time and its impossible to survive there for outsiders without air conditioning. You are more prone to injuries and breaking down in weather like that and can never train hard and enjoy bowling.
