It is safe to say most us on ICF aren't arm chair fans. I was chatting with an uncle of mine after the end of this match and he was on about how selectors should drop Kohli and Ashwin and bring back likes of Dravid and Mishra. He added India should persevere with Bhajji, SRT, and Yuvi because they are proven players! And I thought to myself "are our selectors any different, are they just arm chair fans making important selections without thought of long term planning, strategy, match conditions, assessing opposition to minute detail etc.!??" So this poll is to select a starting XI for the 3rd Test calling upon ICFers' "expertise" :hehe: based on what they have seen and stats from recent Tests, Domestic, India A matches etc. At the end of the day the selectors have better access to players' fitness, domestic performance report, they are ex-players themselves. Let's see what selectors/Dhoni go for vs ICF selection. Links to other poll pages for ICF starting XI: OPENERS MIDDLE ORDER KEEPER TWEAKERS PACEMEN

This is the hardest one for me, with potential seismic consequences if the norm is not followed. Dhoni is likely to struggle on turners vs quality spinners and places where ball will swing. But then Australia up next, the threat of Lyon is not the same as Swann/Monty. Some of his captaincy has been questionable too. It's time to say bye-bye for now to Dhoni in Tests, time to make a tough call. The next in line can't do any worse. Saha in, interim captaincy to Sehwag or Kohli.

Dinesh karthik is arguably the most talented batsman in the list. but the guy is not suited for tests , throws his wickets away. still remember the starts he gave against england in 2007 series. :(( Saha's is the best keeper in the list , his batting was disappointing in the IPL , didnt see the india A tour so cant really comment. Pappu patel is scoring tons of runs in ranji . why was he tried in ODIs. his style may suit test matches.

Unfortunately...Dhoni is the best choice atm.....Once he is done....Looks like late-90's all over again, when we couldnt find anyone to replace Mongia. Dislike Dhoni the captain and his approach to T20 but still an xfactor in tests and ODI's while comparing with other Keepers....Only if Karthik was a better keeper

Karthik is better to pacers than dhoni and he seems to have improved his keeping to spinners.
