A couple of months back Dhoni was being bashed left/right for not playing Harbhajan against SA in the World T20 and now on a turning pitch Harbhajan selection draws ire? None of the other spinners including Kartik(yes I did support him too), Harmeet, Mishra etc. are in the Top 20 wicket takers this season. In addition, drastic team changes are NEVER made while a series is going on - it has to be either AFTER or BEFORE the series starts.

Sometimes a sense of objectivity is missed while analysing a player/captain. Also, one more thing that I have always noticed is that the person sitting on the bench is the best possible player. As you pointed out, Bhajji's selection and non-inclusion has met both ends. Whilst he was the best player to have played against SA, Ishant or Dinda was the better selection on a turner.

Competition as between Yusuf and Raina, for 7 not others.

Sure, we can discuss put the merits of the argument and move on. Repeating the same thing over & over & over again till it takes all posts in just 1 conclusion achieves no purpose in terms of a discussion or otherwise.

This reminds me of this book Pakis play spin better than pace in odis.so we went with three pacers and it was mohali after all.Dhoni has been praised enough for the wc 2011 win . Here Point is Bhajji does not deserve to be in the squad.Let alone team.

Pakis play spinners well and they can be fragile against pacers that was a sound thinking from their part and Mohali usually does not help spinners much and it had a green tinge on it though it did not turn out to be exactly a seaming track but there was enough for the pacers too. It was a good decision from the outset.

You know who started it? Playing Nehra against Pak was a right logical decision. In any country,someone in a man management position will promote someone (from his view) helping him and try to diminish/destroy those not helping him. Tendulkar after Kumble was injured for the WI tour of 1997 asked for a spinner and the BCCI sent him Noel David (he hadn't even heard his name). what is this trivia supposed to prove? i had already mentioned that some requests were denied to azhar/sachin. but only because it involves arguable cases of average players like robin or mediocre players like nilesh..noel david is not an open and shut case. with stronger players from 2000,ganguly or dhoni had more reasons to have their ways. ponting also didn't have hisway sometimes like brett lee in 2004-2005 but eventually he did get what he wanted-brett lee aheadof kasper andbichel. wright & kirsten also backed the captain in team selection...did they come from mars? no they also understand leadership. nz orSA. it doesnot matter. everywhere the selectors will try to give the captain as much as he wants. if you fall foul of thecaptain,god help your career unless u r exceptional like KP(and even that does not help always).
