Nova Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Despite facing humiliation in the second Test, Indian skipper MS Dhoni didn't allow selectors to make any change in the squad for the third Test against England to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata starting December 5. According to Times Now, selectors were in favour of reshuffle but Dhoni overruled them and decided to continue with the same squad in Kolkata. Reports suggest that selectors wanted inclusion of a leg-spinner Amit Mishra to give variety to Indian spin attack. However, an unfazed Dhoni, backed by coach Duncan Fletcher and bowling coach Joe Dawes, reposed faith on the spin trio of R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh despite their failure to exploit the pitch in Mumbai which was tailor made to suit India's demands. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournament/england-in-india-2011/Dhoni-overrules-selectors-backs-under-performers/articleshow/17388409.cms I had no clue that Dhoni has so much say in selection matters. Oh almighty captain...we the spineless selectors will always bow down to you. :hail:

Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 This is Srinis power. He sacked Amarnath because Amarnath disagreed with Dhoni.Their time is going to be up soooooon. Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2
Trichromatic Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Did TOI get this news from their special 'sources'?
Number Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 What do you expect from the dictator. Oppose him and you will lose your nice paying job. Fletcher is his yes-man. Selectors are the same.
The Realist Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Just wow. Dhoni & his clique have a total hold on all team matters it seems despite consistently bad results. What I don't get is that he is backing Dartbhajan yet when in the team he hardly bowls him. Just makes no sense. PS. Joe Dawes the "bowling" coach :hysterical:
Number Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Dhoni never wanted Harby out even at his worst. Amarnath dropped him and overruled Srikkanth and Dhoni every time over his name. Also Dhoni wanted RP Singh to continue after horrible England tour but Amarnath opposed any discussion over his selection. And then Dhoni dropped Amarnath... DxRHP8YaPCg As soon as Amarnath sacked, Bhajji is back.
Magneto Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 There is no way the Indian team would have changed. People need to be realistic. Sehwag can't be dropped because he's scored a century Gambhir can't be dropped because he's scored ONE half-century Yuvraj can't be dropped because he's scored ONE half-century Kohli and Pujara would be in the team naturally 'Sachin' and 'dropped' is regarded as 'blasphemy' in India Dhoni can't be dropped because he is the almighty kaptaan The two spinners are anyway the best we have now Only Bhajji could have been dropped, but it is okay because he is quite a good waterboy. His skills can be used there. India is anyway not likely to play with 3 spinners at Eden.
The Dark Horse Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Lets name the team as Dhoni's cronies XI
BERGKAMP Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 dhoni is worse than hitler. i hope india lose 3-1 now so he can be ditched.

Personally can see UV being dropped for more batting stability (Rahane) as he will be even less effective at Eden Gardens and is adding nothing with his bowling.
Nova Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 There is no way the Indian team would have changed. People need to be realistic. Did you even read the OP? If what TOI has reported, is true, then shame on the captain. All these senior players are buddies and support each other. Amarnath got the axe, so why would any selector stick out his neck and go against the tide. There is no accountability left sadly.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 This story makes me sick, we have known this for some time but for him to not ring changes even after this something is wrong with his thinking. Next he will be bringing Jadega in at number 6. I cant help thinking if he was born in Mumbai or Dehli he might have a bit more intelligence. But it should not be this way, chief selectors should always have the final say. Cricket is run so much more professionally in England and Australia
Rohit S. Ambani Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 PS. Joe Dawes the "bowling" coach :hysterical: He is one hot looking bear -
EnterTheVoid Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Another reason why India CAN NEVER be as ruthless as the Australian team of 1998 - 2006.

Thanks for correcting me.
Sachinism Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 So you guys wanted Mishy to be selected? I glad he told them to take a hike. How about making changes to the batting line up?

That is why I said that Bhajji could have been replaced, but since he'll not be in the starting 11, how does it make a difference whether Bhajji carries drinks or Mishra does. Mishra anyway is not in such a hot form, that he will set the ground on fire. In terms of performances, the only three guys who can be dropped are Gambhir, Sachin and Yuvraj. Any reshuffle should happen in that direction; the three main bowlers have not done much wrong.
