Can we move away from srt and focus on bigger problems

Looks like all the attention and the compressed hatred has been focused on sachin.....but is he the only problem our team faces? I would take 10 changes and just an average srt ,past his prime to play till south Africa. I see some amazing troll threads about srt but I am serious.....we have players who look like deer lost in headlights, just cruising in mediocrity and we talk as if srt is the problem. Do you really expect the likes of sehwag and gambhir to guide youngsters in home or away conditions? Now I am not saying srt should not start an exit strategy but just dumping him or a sudden retirement sends all the wrong messages. Yeah let srt start the process of retiring but let us focus on more serious problems our cricket is facing.

Ok then one spot to fix is definitely Yuvi's; he is definitely not test match material- maybe a replacement will succeed right away or maybe not but we need to atleast start trying to fix that spot Yadav's injury hurt us but bowling as a whole needs to be fixed

SRT is one of the biggest problems and not just because of his non performance but because of the intangibles .. His non performance is like a nice excuse for other non performers to retain their places e.g Yuvi and Zak.Because if he's still in the side being the worst player of all, then you cannot touch the other flops. It really is a convenient arrangement and am pretty sure that there are cliques in the Indian team; one that support SRT and can justify their own places on the basis of his failures versus others that feel he needs to go but cannot voice opinion against seniors.

Like we have hit the panic button....it is too big of a desicions to just come out f the blue.....can u imagine how much that will overshadow all the other problems we have Like. For starters....like everything is great with our team, except for srt hanging to his spot No 6,inconsistent opening, unreliable opening, lack of fast bowling resources, inconsistent middle order, lack of spin bench strength, mediocre on field and off field strategies by the think tank.....overall lack of bench strength

Agree. But I don't think he needs to play till just SA. We don't need gradual retirement plan because most seniors have retired already. He has already said he will let the selectors know when he wants to retire, end of story. Don't see the big deal in this. We need to deal with more imminent issues and players rather than focus on an ATG and his ability to score runs. That is the least of our worries.

I am not a SRT bhakt...yes I am a big fan and I am not blind to see what's going on.... In a perfect world,it would have been ideal that one of the big 3 would have been part of the squad while the transition takes place.2 have already retired, But we don't live in a perfect world do we? SRT is still there and unfortunately he is not performing and that is our bad luck. Now either we stick by him for a few more months or we hit the panic button.

How is sacking him equivalent to pressing the panic button?

Because that is probably the biggest desicion taken by our cricket board in the last 11 years ,going back to Match Fixing era or 18 years back regarding Kapil dev...hell infact I will go and say the biggest desicion ever in Indian cricket

Never said that...Please don't put a spin...it is just one of the problems but people here talk like 'that is the problem' and magically everything will be fixed. Infact having an inform SRT would do a lot more good than harm...but unfortunately it is not the case.

Seems like people are beginning to lose the plot slowly. The problem is much deeper as said before. The team is in decline and throwing rookies in or crap players is not the answer. People were calling for head of Dravid and VVS and are we number 1 again? Test cricket is about culture and having that habit and know how of how to win. This is why it is important for there to be some seniors or we could end up in this horrible cycle for long.

SRT got the highest score for India in this game out of the batsman, he is not the problem.. everyone else is! Tough selection decisions need to be made players cannot be persisted with for 1yr+ when they are out of form, it is not good for them or the team. Just look at someone like Dada who was dropped (unfairly) but went away and made one of the greatest comebacks and retired on a high having been one of our best batsman v Aus. The depth of our squad is worse than Bangladesh, that IS the selectors fault for wasting places by picking the likes of UV, RPS and Raina in tests and not giving players chances.
