I don't know about next 2 years but I do know that this innings is enough to save his Kaptaani for the next series..
as if it was ever under threat..!! Nobody was going to touch him this innings or not as long as srini is there.

If India had lost this series 2-1 (or 3-1) and Dhoni hadn't made runs in this match as well then I'm quite sure even Srini wouldn't have been able to save his Captaincy. Now its a different matter altogether and as far as his Captaincy is concerned, tomorrow's result does not matter at all.

Dhoni is the best wicket keeper batsman in India by a mile. Rest dont even come close. We are talking about a guy who has close to 4000 runs in test cricket and you are talking about replacing him with the likes of Saha, Parthiv Patel, Naman Ojha ? :hysterical: You must be delusional or just trolling. What I want to see though is Dhoni giving up the captaincy and just playing as a wicket keeper batsman in tests. His keeping and batting will also improve when he is rid of the burden of captaincy. It can be extremely mentally and physically draining to be the wk/batsman and also captain a side in tests. The team will also suffer from it because a tired captain cant be concentrating well all the time and that affects his decision making process.

wat wrong has Saha done, surely he can match those 4000 runs only if given a chance.my persoal choice is DK though

wat wrong has Saha done' date='surely he can match those 4000 runs only if given a chance.my persoal choice is DK though[/quote'] Saha , DK and PP will score more runs overseas and be better on bounce/seaming tracks. However, they have negatives as well. Dhoni is walking wickets on many overseas trips, yet place is never under pressure. His keeping can also be very shoddy. IMO his place is up for grabs

Karthik has an average of 27 in test cricket and you want him to replace Dhoni who has an average of 38 and has 27 fifties and 5 hundreds ?

:hysterical::cantstop: Check Out Dhoni Performances in last 2 years.Gives Many Byes and Does not even attempt Catches and lets it go between slip and wk.

Ridiculous. Even our specialist batsmen like Sehwag and Gambhir struggle overseas and you expect Saha and Parthiv to score runs there ?

Karthik Averages 40+ against eng ,sa, and has a better technique than dhoni and is a better keeper to fast bowlers.

not to forget his keeping quiet(except this match wen his ass is on the line).a keeper sets the mood,n we need a more vocal keeper

Nothing suggests he will do well in tests and that too better than Dhoni. In fact, he is not in contention to be second in line to wk spot. Its Saha who is in that position. So that tells you how DK's performance has gone down over the years.
