n yet you go back to his average of 27 upto 2007 to decide hes not good enough:haha:
In FC also he averages only 40 which is very less because pitches in India especially for Ranji trophy over the years have been tailor made for batting and bowling attacks are not good enough.

Anyhow' date=' DK averages 27 in 23 tests he played. He got the opportunities but he didnt do well enough.[/quote'] He played against great australian in mumbai 2004 on a minefieldi and a southafrican attack the next series.Had a good england tour but never got any chances and failed in mendis series where everybody bar shewag failed and dhoni was off on vacation.

doesn't matter. What matters is Dhoni's average in Tamasha cricket - if thats good then he is eligible for Test kirkut :yay:

That includes test cricket also and obviously when you are playing at the highest level, there tends to be a drop compared to domestic cricket because the quality of cricket is way superior.

^^A batting average of 35 in FC was not too bad at that time given the other options. But once he got selected, he has done better in tests than in FC which means he has proved himself. Bottom line is average of 38 over 72 tests is a great record. Nobody can oversee this and select someone like DK who has failed in whatever test opportunities he got and also hasnt done much of note in FC since.

Not necessarily. A wicket keeper who has average of 35 is not too bad' date=' especially around the time he was selected because there were not many options. After he got selected in tests, he did even better than in FC and proved himself. So where's the question of dropping him ?[/quote'] 35 is not too bad but 40 is very less?:hmmmm2: there were options wen he was selected.Kartik wasnt given a rope. as for proving in Tests,if he can better his FC average, why cant Saha/DK? hes not done well for a long time now, both with gloves n bat,so should be dropped. Kaul is another guy who can replace him, though I'm not sure of his keeping

Yes, at that time. Kartik or Saha were not around back then. Of course, ODI records would also have been considered because exposure to foreign conditions and his batting form was also an advantage compared to others.

23 tests is long enough.

We cant really be sure about that, can we ? 23 tests were not good enough for Kartik to improve his average. In fact, its way less than his FC average.

Karthik hasnt been doing well enough in FC.

He averages 21 in India over 9 tests and 9 in Sri Lanka where conditions are exactly the same as conditions in domestic cricket. This shows he is not good enough to handle international quality bowlers.

okay, try Saha or Kaul then.though I bet if Dhoni were to play FC,he'd do as bad

hes done well in Eng n SA,why do u ignore that n pick on stats wen he was young or wen everyone failed v Mendis in SL?

No reason for dropping Dhoni. He is doing a decent job as a wk/batsman. Its up to the specialist batters in this lineup to put runs on the board. That has been the biggest problem of the test side over the past year.

so WK batsman has no responsibility?I'd accept that if his keeping was good, but its shoddy n makes bowlers having to take more than 20 wickets(isnt that what he said at Ahmedabad:winky:) batters r problem too,I'm not defending them.but WK batsmen should contribute too in this day n age.look at Prior,ABDV.Haddin was dropped by Australia since he wasnt doing well also another reason for dropping him is coz hes our MVP in ODIs n should concentrate there n extend his ODI career.dont wanna see him burned out

And he dropped a hazaar catches and missed a maha hazaar stumpings. Karthik and Parthiv should not be allowed any where near the Indian team.

He was very good to fast bowlers. It was kumble he had problems keeping to as he got up early. But he Seems to have improved on that .Parthiv is a diff case he drop straight ones be in pacers or spinners may eb concentration problem and also he was horrible to spinners so i agree.
