I will miss seeing Kumble + Ganguly + Dravid + Laxman + Sachin + Srinath in one team. :(( There was time our batting side was head to head with likes of Hayden/Langer/Ponting/Martyn/Gilly. And Likes of Kumble and Srinath used to toil hard on dead pitches, tireless unsung Indian heroes!

You are in pretty deep confusion. Mentioning Srinath means you are stuck in the pre-2003 stage. When India were a very ordinary side. At that time our batting was definitely not on par with the Aussies(barring the 2001 series at home). What dead pitches did Srinath/Kumble get at home? If anything they had to contend with terrible fielding.

This should have happened when we were thrashed 4-0 in England, but no ! like most fans in delirium over the WC win you decided to overlook the flaws of our over-hyped team . And our problems are NOT RECENT. We have suffered more innings defeats ( eight) than any other test playing nation in the last 5 years. In the list of 50 worst( margin of defeat) Test match defeats in the last 5 years , india figures 11 times ! more than any other test playing nation. This has been a long time coming.
