rkt.india Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Sending Pujara is a good idea to expose him to SA conditiions but he is a test senior now so selectors may not do that. When are the A team touring SA? Depends also on what India seniors doing then. Squad could be similar to one that SHOULD HAVE gone to WI and NZ- Mukund, Rahane, Pujara ©, Rohit, Tiwary, R Jadeja, Saha, Pankaj, Dinda, Awana, Shanbaz Nadeem Jiwanjot, Shami Ahmed, Parthiv, Another Spinner The pacemen Ive listed should be ahead in the pecking order than Ishwar Pandey and the Sharmas- let Ishwar, Mohit and Sandeep have another good season to follow the one they have had this year before they cna play A team cricket Id really like to see Rahane groomed as an opener, but dont think that is happening. Dinda and Awana were not even in NZ and I doubt they will be this time too. Anyway, they will be playing for India. They are not the kind of bowlers we should look for tests. Ishwar Pandey, Sandeep Sharma and Shami are certainties bar any injury.
Sooda Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 There were not in NZ because selectors are rubbish, they should have been. Ishwar and Sandeep might be ignored for SA just like Awana was ignored for WI tour, you never know. On SA like tracks Awana at least might be useful surely? How do we know he will not be a decent test bowler without even trying him on A tours. He has earned this chance. As I said I dont know what the schedule is like, obviously if theyre playing for India they cant go to NZ.

Awana and Dinda are just average bowlers, wont take out team anywhere. They lack skills to be successful in test cricket especially Dinda. On tracks like SA, Ishwar Pandey and Sandeep will be more useful because they are natural swinger of the ball. There is no bowler who has a better outswinger than Pandey right now in India and pretty much as quick as Dinda and Awana bowl in FC cricket. We need to go for long term options which Dinda is not. Awana can still be tried and tested but not Dinda anymore who is at best a T20 bowler. Dinda was ineffective even in WI when pacers made merry.

rkt.india Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 i think shami has fantastic out swinger... is pandey better? :hmmm: Yes Shami has good one too. Both have good actions fouir outswingers. Difficult to compare.

As I said I dont know what the schedule is like, obviously if they're playing for India they cant go to NZ. Most probably the SA A tour is in July and just before this seniors will have Champions trophy in England in June and will have Zimbabwe tour in July-Aug for I don't know how many ODIs. Awana isn't doing as well for Delhi. Suyal and Narwal are outshining him there. So not sure if he can be long and good test prospect. And I don't think we should waste our seamers in domestic cricket. If they show potential and intial success, they should be tested at A level. If they impress there, they can be immediately earmarked for tests. Otherwise we'll lose them to IPL.

King Tendulkar Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dinda has everything in him to be very successful test bowler. . :giggle:
CG Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dinda has everything in him to be very successful test bowler. Much better than bowlers like Ishant and Sreesanth. Dinda will run in all day and try hard,But he just bowls half trackers mostly unless he pitches it up and swings it ,it will be hard for him.
TestPlayer Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Dinda will run in all day and try hard' date='But he just bowls half trackers mostly unless he pitches it up and swings it ,it will be hard for him.[/quote'] Yeah, you're right. Dinda became the highest wicket taker in the last Ranji season just because he bowls half trackers mostly.

TestPlayer Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 So how do you select a player for the national team? On the basis of what?
CG Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 So how do you select a player for the national team? On the basis of what? Performance Matters ,But just numbers wont do .Then there would be no need of selectors ,Selectors have to judje if the guy has the attributes to be sucessful at international level Like pace ,Movement, attitude,.Dinda has earned a chance through hardwork,He will get a chance but unless he gets over the mindset of bowling back of length ,it will be hard for him.
TestPlayer Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Now I have a question: What is the role of the coaches? Who will correct Dinda ? What is Dhoni doing? We have seen that Dinda is very hard working. So if he is corrected we have a very good fast bowler with a very fit body, unlike Zaheer. What is the role of the coach, captain and the support stuff?
rkt.india Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Dinda has everything in him to be very successful test bowler. Much better than bowlers like Ishant and Sreesanth. what do you see in Dinda? let me know too.

Dinda's problem is his action which is too strenuous for test cricket. IN T20s, he goes all out and then clock 140K, in tests he will barely cross 135. He does not get much movement in the air or off the seam even in Chennai where there was a lot for him.

I've seen Dinda bowl in unlimited over matches. He bowls constantly over 140.

He baerly touches 140 even in ODIs let alone tests. I had seen him in a Deodhar trophy match where Aaron clocked 147, he barely managed top speed at 135. and moreover, for me, it is not just about speed. He is a short guy and for a short guy, he uses too many short balls and even that is not the biggest issue for me, the biggest issue is he barely swings or seam the ball which is a basic requirement at his pace. Every game, I have seen of him in last one year or so, he has been outbowled by other pacers and that too on helpful tracks where others got seam and swing. Thing with Dinda is, he has been an ordinary FC bowler all throughout his career, he had one great last season and that is it. His FC average of 30 says it all.
