Firstly let me state that what ever happens Sehwag is a legend, an all time great. He has been a fantastic opener and is probably the most destructive opener in the history of the game. He is Indias best opener after sunny. Genius and a legend. Love him to bits. But his time is over. He is 34 now and his hand eye coordinbation is simply not what it is, nor the mental stregth. And those were his strengths, great hands and eyes plus tremendous fearlessness. But father time has reduced his hand and eyes. Unlike other batsman with sound techinques, so when their hands/eyes dip with a bit with age, their techniques see them through for a few years more, sehwag cant do this. He also has no gears to grind an inings or adapt tactically to compensate for his natural senses diminishing as well. But with sehwag this was always going to happen. Once the eyes went a bit he would be left hapless. This is also reflected in his tragic slip fielding, although a lot of that is down to also not even concentrting. Sorry veeru your time is up and find it sad he is keeping a hot prospect like Rahane out. His test record has been tragic over last 2 years and like sachin(who also in tests must call it a day) should now make way. He should be axed in all formats, your time is up veeru!!!

Yeah but he has the highest ODI score. Also a strike rate over 100 at an average of 35. Gave fast starts and has 15 ODI hundreds.

Ive said for ages he should have retired from ODIs post WC win along with Sachin and Zaheer. Cant see how he will help us building for next WC He could still be a test batsman at no 4 or 5 though

You're right there is no way for 100% sure but the fact is he hasn't scored a Test century outside the subcontinent since Jan 2008. Away from home he is consistently being undone by swing and seam ... Anderson, Steyn, Hilfenhaus and Pattinson have consistently got him out with wide deliveries moving away from him. The thing with a purely hand-eye player like Sehwag is as you age, hand-eye coordination is the first thing that suffers ... For people like Sachin and Dravid, when that started to suffer, they could go back to that solid technical base and thus they were able to work out of their form slump but for pure hand-eye players there isn't much chance unless they alter their style which Sehwag is not willing to do. Sorry, he has to go ... Rahane, Vijay, Mukund, and many others all deserve chances. Sehwag has been a brilliant opener for India but he is a walking wicket as soon as there is any life in the pitch nowadays.

Yes, he is not good enough anymore. His attitude sucks, fitness is poor and when there is a little bit of help for bowlers, he is found out. I dont think he is working hard on his cricket.

When he starts to fail in India as well is the time to call it quits, not sure why people think he can still play tests, his inability to play an innings or see off good pace/swing bowling means he would be as ineffective. The most entertaining batsman of our generation but it is time to dedicate himself to the aloo ka parathas full time.

He is just a flat track bully for most part who cannot be relied upon in 3rd and 4th innings of Tests when it matters the most and in ODI's a lazy pig on the field who is average with the bat.
