Cricketics Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 By Non Popular, I mean like the drinks other then Pepsi, Coke etc. My personal favorite our Indian - SHIKANJVI AKA NIMBU PANI. Growing up in India, I used to love this. It used to taste CLASS during those hot days of May-June For those who don't have Nimbu at house and feel like drinking this - Get some Kala namak and mix it with Sprite or Ginger-Ale. It tastes about the same and is amazing. So what are your favorite drinks.
Cricketics Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 Mango Lassi Nimbu pani Man glad you mentioned Mango Lassi. I have an important question. I am a big lassi fan but isn't Mango Lassi a thing which started here in overseas? I mean I was young but remember pretty well that Mango Lassi was never to be seen or heard in India before when I was there. I actually drank plenty of lassi in India, but I drank Mango Lassi for the first time when I came to States. Is that so?

You should definitely take it up. In future, if your wife cannot satisfy you (and I mean through her cooking :P), you can make stuff for yourself. I enjoy the whole process from start to end. I like the sound my knife makes on the chopping board and the look of the lovely diced cuts of veggies. Everyone should learn how to cook. You don't have to spend a lot of time on it, but just learn the simple dishes. Most home cooking in India is an amalgamation of basic techniques and use of a few spices. For example, learn how to make rice, daal and some veggie sides to go with it. And you have a wholesome meal you can make yourself anytime of the day. Even non veg like Tandoori chicken is easy to make at home using the oven.
