Pace scare: Niggles take Ishant to Aus, Aaron to England

With the Australia tour scheduled to start before the end of the month, India suffered an injury scare, with Ishant Sharma the latest to be affected. It is learnt that Sharma faced some mild pain on his ankle post the England ODI series and after consultation with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has asked him to check with experts. The BCCI has asked Sharma to travel to Australia in a couple of days and consult experts regarding the nature and severity of the injury. It was only during the England Test series that Sharma had made his come back after ankle surgery had kept him out for close to ten months. walking wounded With Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav and Irfan Pathan all still rehabilitating at the NCA, India's top pacers remain a doubt for the upcoming series against Australia. The national selection committee will meet on February 10 to pick the squad for the series. "We don't want to take any risks with Ishant's ankle, so we have asked him to consult a specialist to avoid a recurrence of the injury," a BCCI official said. Meanwhile, Varun Aaron will also be travelling to London to consult experts on when he can start bowling. "I will be going there next week where I will be meeting a couple of doctors and seek their advice. They will review the state of fitness of my back and based on that I will take a call on when I should begin bowling," Aaron said. Last year, the BCCI had planned to send Aaron to Perth, where the Indian speedster was supposed to meet bio-mechanics expert Daryl Foster, who has worked with the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan before. However, due to a scheduling problem, Aaron couldn't make it and was monitored instead by Nitin Patel at the NCA. "I have been bowling on and off but haven't bowled flat out. After this consultation I will get a clear picture of my body. Sitting at home has been frustrating but it's a stress fracture and it takes longer to mend and you can't do anything about it," said Aaron.

On reading thread title I was like where Aaron keeps getting all these niggles as he hardly plays anything. But thankfully, there is nothing new.

most bowlers are impressive but its next step improving and becoming world class which is problem yes we have guys like mithun but we have produced people ishant ,yadav,sreesanth to some extent who showed tons of potential.. also forgot rp singh :giggle: he was good ..really good in that one season vs england and australia

True that. Somehow, we are not able to nurture fast bowling talents. It all boils down to how that player handles himself.

Pandey looked mediocre till now.he bowls back of length and at 125-135ks.Really shami should be selected for tests or bp XI and pankaj singh would be cursing himself the likes of mithun get selected ahead of him.
