StatsRock Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Chennai has witnessed some amazing centuries over the years. Which do you think is the best Viru 319 vs South Africa Sunny 236 not out vs West Indies Dhoni 224 vs Australia GR Viswanath 222 vs England Tendulkar 136 vs Pakistan Dean Jones 210 vs India Tendulkar 155 not out vs Australia there are few more. Which one you rate as the best? I'm surprised by the number of crappy 100s you've added. Sunny 236 - came on the 4th day, no pressure Vishy 222 - featherbed, contender for the most boring series in India Viru 319 - featherbed Kapil 100 v WI - dustbowl, pace attack blunted. Even Raman scored 83 on debut These are my picks: Kapil 119 Tied Test SRT 136 v Pak - Of Course SRT 155* v Aus - Of course Chris Lewis 117 - result was foregone conclusion but give credit to the guy for using his feet SRT 126 v Aus 2001 Sehwag 155 v Aus 2004 These are apart from the good ones you mentioned.
StatsRock Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Sachin ... 103 vs England Anwar ... 197 vs India You talking ODIs here? Or referring to the 188 at Calcutta, which was a great innings?
CG Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 There is no doubt of what i have seen sachin Tendulkar 136 vs Pakistan. It was on a diff pitch against a top attack .
Brainfade Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 1a) Gavaskar's 236* 1b) Tendulkar's 136 - although there is a bitter taste with this one.
Sidhoni Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I haven't seen the others except Viru's and Dhoni's. So I would pick Dhoni's knock.
carnish Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 You talking ODIs here? Or referring to the 188 at Calcutta' date=' which was a great innings?[/quote'] Sachin's 103 was a test ... Anwar's was 194 .. I mistakenly have written 197 as i didnt remember exact score. And yes it was an ODI which I will never forget. India was chasing hard but fell sort by some 30-odd runs. I remember Ajay Jadeja doing well that night but to no avail. Anwar was marvellous that night. played some brilliant shots.

carnish Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 IIRC it was Dravid (90 odd)and V Kamble(70) who scored most of the runs in that match. Guess I remember a little wrong then .. but I guess Dravid had a century. But the way anwar batted that night, it still gives me shivers. He was sweeping Kumble with ease that night.
CoverDrive Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 My personal picks Sachin vs. Pak Dean Jones in the tied test
gaurav92 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Veeru's 319 Sachin's 155* Sachin's 103* and Dhoni's 224.
DomainK Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 That was Harbhajan and Laxman series. All the other performances in the series were forgotten. Very true. Everything else, even the contributions from Sachin got overshadowed, which does not happen often.

Sunny 236 came after India were reduced to nought for two and 5/92. The bowling attack was formidable. It is not just a 4th day knock, India could have faced follow on and innings defeat without that knock. Marshall was at his deadly best and tried his best to dismantle Gavaskar but Gavaskar would not budge.
vamos_rafa Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Sachin 136 and 126. Both for the overall qualtites of the attacks and the match/series situations.
