Samaraweera's Test career has had several starts, most notably when he came back from being shot during the 2009 Lahore attack on Sri Lanka's team bus, after he had made double-hundreds in back-to-back Tests in Pakistan. Samaraweera had surgery to remove the bullet which had travelled 12 inches into his thigh, and underwent months of physical and psychological therapy, before returning to the Test side four months later.

But there were one or two other cricketers who were hit along with Samaraweera. I'm only talking intl cricket coz figuring out shooting incidents when Pak FC matches are in scope would be a pretty long and gruesome exercise.

:haha: Yeah, I know for a fact that Sanga was hit. But, I wanted to know if ever, like maybe during WWII something like this might have happened. Anyways, we may never know. But soon, I guess Bangladesh will be touring Pakistan, looks like the second incident is not so far away.

Well the difference is they were not shot while about to play a game of cricket :giggle: If I'm not mistaken there was no intl cricket played during WWII and players like Don Bradman lost some of their good years due to the war.

I don't know how you Indians can call him a FTB, he is up there with dravid and srt. Actually dravid and SRt are bigger FTBs.
