Most recent series victory against the #2 team. :regular_smile: The difference is that, 2 years ago, no one would have dreamed to get anywhere close Australia, let alone winning against them. Now, its no longer like that. At least India and SA are able to compete and win series against the Aussies. Sure, they're #1 - but can you say after another 2 series against SA and India, that this will stay stay the same? Maybe you can but I surely can't.

There dominance if some people did not quite realise it is over!!!! Joke players like Hughes, North in the team. Johnson totally exposed. Haddin could not catch a cold. OAPS like Hussey still in team, even though has not scored a ton in yonks. Awful spinner in Hauritz. Shocking team compared to former years, no strength in depth as people claimed they had. I mean there back up is Ronald Mcdonald for gods sake!! Even their selectors have lost the plot. No back up opener in squad and no back up spinner. Go figure! Its the end of an era guys and I told you so way back:cantstop:

Now it seems England is worried. Make no mistake England were pathetic last test match too, they drew because of a combination of things that worked in their favour.
Chorazin Reto Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Clarke has looked solid, but i still dont think they can win, it pretty much is up to Clarke and Haddin to get, what, 210 more runs? Johnson just hasnt looked at all in any sort of groove(batting or bowling), Hauritz and Siddle can hold up an end for a main batsmen, but i wouldnt like to rely on them making 50's each. The Aussies however do have a sniff.

He will always be questioned about his technique, but I just have the utmost confidence that he will come good. He is our biggest batting hope we have had in a while, certainly since Clarke came onto the scene. Haddin- well his certainly not the best keeper in the world, but he's average and no worse then most I don't think. His batting warrants him a side in the place alone. Ronald McDonald has been performing consistently at state level for a number of years and can fill in doing a decent job when required, I do believe there are other players we could pick ahead of him though. So that does not tell the full story of Australia's depth, which I feel is as good as any sides. Our domestic cricket is very good in terms of producing players. As for North, he does the job, but I think Brad Hodge is extremely unfortunate not to be in the side, he has been averaging above 50 in state level for a number of years but keeps getting ignored, yet they choose North and McDonald over him. In fact, I'd go close to picking Hodge above Hussey. I agree though, we are not as dominate and it will take a long time before we could hope of getting back into a position of authority like that. But, I'm happy enough seeing us in the top 3 for now, alongside India and South Africa.

He's had 2 low scores and an average one, but had a great series in SA so you have to stick with him. I agree we maybe should of brought a back up opener with us, in case one got injured or one was dreadfully out of form. But Hughes isn't as yet. If he goes next test without scoring, then I will start to take notice a bit more. Jaques is a fine replacement.

As above says Jaquesy got injured, we could have taken Rogers or Klinger though As for a back-up spinner, I don't know if it's neccesary because I doubt Hauritz will play more then 1 more match.

I think by era, he means domincance by which I agree. But I agree with you also, that we can challenge any team, anywhere. Also on Hauritz, mate, you are spot on. I don't rate him.
Cricketics Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 By all means, this was a great effort by the Aussies. English team won't have had a proper sleep last night seeing Australia needing about 200 runs to win the 2nd test with 2 players showing great grit and determination. It was a new day though and hence Aus had to start all over again. But had it been Indian team who would have lost this test match, we all would have been praising our batsmans for giving a great fight. Aussies did give a great fight and hats off to Haddin and Clarke for giving some night mares to English bowlers on the eve of day 5.
