Drugs lmfaoooooo Its not that bad :cantstop: Honestly exams are near and no one has time to see test match Also most people dont care enough for test matches :((
mohali has a capacity of about 30,000 I was expecting atleast 10,000 people to turn up. Surely the oldies dont have exams?

I dont understand the hue & cry by most poster's here about the crowds' date=' not every venue will give you jam packed crowds.[/quote'] They have different expectations - probably by seing Test matches at Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. It's not like they are wrong in their observation.

then dont hold them there Lets hold our test cricket in centers in the south and give mohali an ODI or T20 We have hyderabad bangalore chennai where there is always a decent crowd (even if not packed) add Eden gardens which has a decentish turn out and those are our 4 test venues. Places like Nagpur and Mohali have been **** for test cricket. I come from mumbai but barely 3000-4000 came to watch india play england. It was the same for A'bad.

That would be sad cos ground is good, pitch is normally good for tests But i guess we deserve it :(( Maybe bbci needs to give more incentive? Most people i know did not had any idea match was in mohali..lol Weekends might get good crowd but banglore type grounds deserve it more..

Holding test cricket is just a formality. It is not as if they do it to pull the crowd. After the advent of T20s' date=' there is no chance test will get a good crowd in India.[/quote'] You should watch Test cricket to comment on it. Please check the crowds in the last 2 Test matches of this series.

crowd can't be the only factor to take away games, other things are good.they need to market it more. also grounds like Nagpur also dont have much crowd

i think places like bangalore and chennai are located bang in the middle or the city (or within city limits). that makes them easily accessible. I refuse to believe that people did not know there was a test on as an excuse. This series is all over the TV in India especially in light of homework gate. You would have to bury your head into sand to not know a test match was on. I am not saying the bcci makes job of watching matches at the crowd easy. But surely better crowd should have turned up. The bcci might as well make entry free. They sure are not making any money by gate receipts. I really dont understand what profit punjab cricket association makes by hosting test matches. Surely ODIs would be better. Atleast with Hyderabad and Chennai in this series the sum of people turning over 3 days was enough to fill the stadium more than an odi or t20 would.

i dont think anybody is defending nagpur. Even they should have their test status stripped.

but then you'd be left 6-7 test venues only

The problem in Nagpur is the location. No one even came to watch Ganguly's last Test match there!

dont think making it free will make big difference..they should but problem is people think why go and watch match when there is going to be no result? people dont even watch test at home, going to mohali for one day of cricket does not makes sense chandigarh people have no excuse though..

isnt that enough? plus we can try out new venues like pune. Thats one place which has better facilities than Mohali. and the weather is fantastic being located high above sea level in between mumbai and pune. I am sure out of a stadium of 55,000 they will be able to fill 10-15k You also have Rajkot Dharmashala, Indore, Ranchi etc which can be tried out to see if there is a better crowd.

On weekends, yes. Otherwise it was just a decent crowd for those 2 matches, nothing good.

Expect the same in Delhi next week. 6 days to go for the test match and you can't buy the tickets online. If and when they are available, you are forced to buy season tickets (for all 5 days). Right now DDCA is selling tickets through select Bank of Maharashtra (!!) branches. IPL tickets are sold through CCD outlets and at a few other retail chains but not Test tickets.

I agree but we have had some of the best matches here maybe playing less matches will solve it.. I mean we get so many ipl, odis and t20 people have no reason to go watch tests should get 1 test in 2 years:giggle:
