oneANDone Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 What makes to think BCCi always host high profile test matches in Mohali... This venue never attract people from any part of country for test matches... Probably best place for students to prepare their exams.. hence there is no quite place in India right now..
Sean Bradley Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 What Crap?? Mohali has the best practice facilities in the country, vividly pleasant weather throughout for a test match.
Cevno Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 The crowd attendance is very poor usually in Mohali. Even the Deodhar trophy matches hadd more people than this match probably.
urbestfriend Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Yes, worst of test centers as crowd is very poor for test matches.
carnish Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Yeah extremely poor crowds. With BCCI looking to spread tests to smaller centres over the next decade, I guess the axe will fall on Mohali as far as tests are considered. But the facilities and the weather being excellent, Mohali can be made into the 2nd NCA centre in India or we can have a second Pace bowling academy there on the lines of MRF Pace foundation so that the facilities are well utilised. The money can easily flow into the pockets of PCA by giving them one extra LOI game.
saneindian Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Disappointing to see no crowds at Mohali. Facilities wise, perhaps the best stadium in India barring a roof over the stands. Even the IPL matches are hardly played in packed stadiums.
NareshK Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Mohali always has empty stands for test matches. There is virtually no interest there for longer format but the stadium itself always has good pitches, good facilities for teams and pleasant weather. Traditionally it has been a good test venue.
cowboysfan Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 What Crap?? Mohali has the best practice facilities in the country' date=' vividly pleasant weather throughout for a test match.[/quote'] and??? I say they should put a moratorium on test matches here, its depressing watching a test match with nobody in the stands.this would never happen in the south.
Rohit S. Ambani Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I asked my close friend from Punjab same question, he told me Chandigarh U.T. neighboring states Punjab, Himachal and Haryana have very less interest in Cricket, Harvest season is here and exams are going on, majority of youth is addicted to drugs. Public transport infrastructure is very poor in North India and private vehicles have to pay huge toll tax.
Rohit S. Ambani Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 btw why Stadium was built in tricity (CHD+Panchkula+Mohali) instead of Ludhiana? Ludhiana is very populated city. Tricity is home to retired armymen or other boring people. Whereas cities like Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala are cultural hub.
The Dark Horse Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 and??? I say they should put a moratorium on test matches here' date='its depressing watching a test match with nobody in the stands.this would never happen in the south.[/quote'] +1
oneANDone Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 What Crap?? Mohali has the best practice facilities in the country' date=' vividly pleasant weather throughout for a test match.[/quote'] So what!!! may it have all the facilities in the world... but when comes to test matches it needs peoples sentiments... Remember chennai.. ind vs Pak... People sitting on concrete with open roof at around 45 deg c with 90% humidity... and spend their all energy for shouting Sachin.. Sachin... Sachin.... for all the fifth day.... believes that they he saves india's pride against Pak... at the end match was lost in just single figures... with sachin departing huge back pain... finally crowd gives standing ovation to the visitors.... Do you think is that test match creates that epic moments... no... its only people who makes the epic moments...
Sean Bradley Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I will take less crowd over hooligans who come to dance on to the tunes of DJ. Test match has a different charm, it is vastly enjoyed on television by the most, also dont forget this is a rain effected match, crowds are uncertain about them, not many stadiums in india can put up facilities which mohali can. Just enjoy the game without thinking much about the crowds.

Plus People here I find, mostly don't care about real cricket. Don't even tend to watch test cricket on TV. Just check scores at end of day's play.
G_B_ Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I think they need to build stadiums in bigger population centers in Punjab Love mohali the ground and pitch. But it has a record of extremely poor attendance.
Old guy Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Drugs lmfaoooooo Its not that bad :cantstop: Honestly exams are near and no one has time to see test match Also most people dont care enough for test matches :((
