The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc In fact, I have to say I hold the captain responsible for this consistent underperformance. When the skipper himself can't pull his weight in an all important series like this, it's a bit unfair to expect rousing performances from the others.

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc

So if the team is mediocre and as you say he is best of poor bunch. Why not attack the rest of the poor bunch and leave the best of them alone. It also has been a low scoring series, thus his runs scored is one of the best on either side.
Well, I couldn't find a thread pointlessly bigging up others, as this one is.
May be because of some "special" threads consistently bashing someone needlessly

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc The captain has failed as expected. I predicted an under par performance from him on the old site. Coming back to the thread, I see now that Dhondy is terming these 50s and 60s as mediocre. Surely, Dhondy you should be amazed to see a batsman ,who admittedly isn't as good as Pathan, turning out to be our highest run getter in this series. This especially after you wrote an epitaph for him even before the tests began.

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc Collectively batting has come a cropper. There is no bigger or slighter sinner on this series. Ganguly has showed courage, Tendulkar showed glimpse of his capability, Jaffer chipped in once, Laxman couldn't do enough in the end and for Rahul Dravid this series is a disaster. It just doesn't matter who scored less or more but collectively the batting has been a major failure.

Secondly, the series hasn't ended yet. In any case, 187 runs in 5 innings is pretty poor by any standards, let alone Sachin's.

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc An average of 37 is good considering we are playing in RSA. Even if our best batsman Pathan was playing, SRT would still have been the 2nd highest run getter which is amazing considering what you expected of him.

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc Sachin looks like almost getting there...he has worked pretty hard in this series and I believe things will get only better from here. Ganguly has stuck it out to play another very good innings....if you look at it two of our big middle order stars-Dravid and Laxman failed here and we still got to 440.....500+ would have been ideal but this is not too bad either.

Re: The guy who can't bat, has no mental fortitude etc Get over this Tendulkar stuff fellas there is more to Indian cricket than just Tendulkar. Tendulkar himself wouldn't be spending so much time analyzing his cricket. Whether he scores or not Indian cricket will move on and so will the rest of the players in the squad.
