India-KXIP fan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Usually selections are not too bad but this team will :fail:
kubrickian Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 this is not a great side. Yuvi' date= Gambhir should have been there and Vijay, Vinay should not have been there. They were both terrible against England even at home and they havent done anything since then.
BeautifulGame Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The most likely XI would be Dhawan Vijay Kohli Rohit Dhoni Raina Jadeja Ashwin Vinay Bhuvi Yadav I just don't like Vijay selection. They probably picked him based on his test series form ahead of IPL. Form. But don't think he has the ability to succeed overseas particularly in ODI cricket. Hope he proves me wrong but not much confident about it. Can understand Gambhir omission. If they felt he isn't the first XI ( with another left hand Shawan sure pick) picking Gambhir in just as squad player could cause unnecessary tension fair enough. But Yuvi should have been picked ahead of Vijay
Sachin=GOD Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 They were both terrible against England even at home and they havent done anything since then. over the years both have proved that they are big match players and have almost always played well in the big tournaments.
asterix Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Good the Pokemon and bored UV got dropped. Mishi will be ineffective and mostly warm the bench. So is Isshant. Yaddu has to bring in more variety in his bowling. Merely bowling phasssst will not help. In that sense good to have Legend in the team. As has been in the past, the batsmen have to win most if the matches...
G_B_ Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 They were both terrible against England even at home and they havent done anything since then. and you think Vijay opening in place of Gambhir is going to light the world on fire? he was dropped from the CSK playing 11 and makes it to team india's squad. Sandeep PAtil needs to resign. Or he has clearly been forced by Srini mama
Pagalpanti Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 They were both terrible against England even at home and they havent done anything since then. Rohit averages 17 - last 1 year, during the same period Gambhir averages 36 - lets not even look at their record in World Tourneys cuz if it wasn't for Gambhir, we'd not have won the T20/50 over world cup. Purely on form alone picking Rohit over Gambhir is baffling decision.
BeautifulGame Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 this is not a great side. Yuvi' date=' Gambhir should have been there and Vijay, Vinay should not have been there.[/quote'] So if not Vinay who would u pick to at death?
G_B_ Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Gaurav Kalra @gauravCNNIBN 3m murali vijay- 11 ODIs @ 17.81- no 50s- last game in jan 2011, current #IPL- 122 runs in 8 games @ 17.42
kubrickian Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 over the years both have proved that they are big match players and have almost always played well in the big tournaments. Over the years dont mean jack when they are not in form. What you are saying is a mistake of selecting players based on reputation and hence Sehwag and Gambhir were persisted for so long and hence India had to lose many games. Its funny how people protest that non performing players have been selected and they are backed due to politics and yet they protest when they are dropped.
India-KXIP fan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 They were both terrible against England even at home and they havent done anything since then. Yuvi has been in poor form before big tournaments but he usuallt turns up in WC's or other big matches. Gambhir has scored well in two WC finals (T20 and 2011). Some players do well in big games, these guys won't Im pretty sure. Vijay will fail, whoever is selected instead of Yuvi will too.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 So if not Vinay who would u pick to at death? could have gone with Shami.
G_B_ Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Over the years dont mean jack when they are not in form. BeautifulGame Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 and you think Vijay opening in place of Gambhir is going to light the world on fire? he was dropped from the CSK playing 11 and makes it to team india's squad. Sandeep PAtil needs to resign. Or he has clearly been forced by Srini mama Most said the same as well before the Aus test series as well when vijay was picked ahead of Gambhir I don't like Vijay's selection one bit but all bias stuff are just nonsense . He has simply given reward for performance in international cricket
Raghav_12 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 how the hell does Murali Vijay get into the side anyways? he has had a poor IPL Is that a secret anymore? No Yuvraj. Seriously. Purging continues.
India-KXIP fan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Over the years dont mean jack when they are not in form. Its funny how people protest that non performing players have been selected and they are backed due to politics and yet they protest when they are dropped. So your saying India should have left Yuvi out due to poor form before 2011 WC. :giggle: He was player of tournament contributing with either bat or ball in all 3 knockouts as well.
asterix Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 MV is the only bad pick could be the Srini quota candidate.
kubrickian Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 again i ask you is murali vijay in any form in the limited overs format. Same was said about him before Australia test series and that he was not scoring runs in FC and yet he turned out to be the highest run scorer in that series. In any case, I dont think he will play in the side.
Number Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 So if not Vinay who would u pick to at death? I have lost count by how many batsmen Vinay got smoked in the end, international cricket. Bairstaw, Sammy, Dan Christian, White..... Death bowling will remain a concern, problem is Vinay is useless with the new ball too. Hardly gets any swing.
G_B_ Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Most said the same as well before the Aus test series as well when vijay was picked ahead of Gambhir I don't like Vijay's selection one bit but all bias stuff are just nonsense . He has simply given reward for performance in international cricket Dude he is struggling in the IPL. You think he will do well away to England? Has Vijay ever done well outside India in any format? He has a poor ODI record. As of now i would say Uttappa is a better bet than Vijay. Let alone Gambhir and Rahane. I would rather open with KKD and Rohit over Vijay in this squad.
