Seamer-friendly England will assist my bowling: Bhuvneshwar Kumar

JAIPUR: Picked in the Indian squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is confident of making the opportunity count and says the seamer-friendly conditions in England and Wales will "assist" his style of bowling. Kumar was yesterday included in the 15-member squad for the 50-over tournament, to be held from June 6 to 23. "I am feeling very happy for my selection. I am confident of doing well there as the conditions will assist my style of pace bowling," Kumar said. The selectors opted for five seamers, and the list included the name of the 22-year-old Uttar Pradesh player. Kumar said he will stick to the basics and would not look to experiment too much with his pace and variation. "I wanted to be a part of this team. I will stick to my basics, just try to bowl within my limits. I won't experiment much with my pace and variation," he said. Kumar, who is playing for Pune Warriors in the ongoing Indian Premier League, said the team would look to win its next five games in the tournament. Warriors are lying at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from 11 matches. "We are virtually out of the play-off race, efforts would be to win our next five games, which will help boost our morale. There were patches when we haven't performed well but that's part and parcel of the game. Some teams perform well, some don't," he said.

most teams prepare much better for conditions they are gonna tour for pakistan are not good players of swing it was no surprise england will take tournament seriously and most teams go with different strategy in england then india in india u have to score against new ball as spinners make life hard after wards in england unless u have high class bowler things really get flat after first few overs and they just play out the new ball.. he might pick few wickets but iver all attack does not gives me any confidence remember we lost 4-0 in odis in england and praveen kumar always got 1 wicket atleast with new ball..

He has gained a bit more pace going by the way he's bowled in IPL. If he continues bowling 134-135 and swings the ball the way he does, he will surely be lethal. IIRC Pathan did very well in the 2004 CT picking lots of wickets with the new ball, hopefully Bhuvi does the same too.

Not really. Even in the Aus tests, he was hitting 137-138 occasionally. I wouldn't be surprised to see him consistently bowl 134-135 in ODIs now

The ball always swings at the Oval. Its quite an open ground with plenty of a breeze blowing across as one point or the other. So at the Oval bhuvi will get purchase through the match.

one thing is for sure though if Shikar does that thing where he moves his hind leg way outside leg stump just before he faces a bowler then he will be badly caught out in England. Our openers need to play a compact game and ensure we are 35-40 for no loss within the 10 overs giving us a chance to get to 250-260

We lost 3. First one was washed out. And the third/fourth(can't remember which one) ODI was tied by D/L But we haven't seen Bhuvi bowl in England so far. I am sure he'll be good.

2 new balls might have hurt reverse swing bowlers. But guys like Bhuvan will benefit from it.
