G_B_ Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 A serious question to all KKR fans. What went wrong? Before the IPL started and after the first match, I had KKR down as a team who would make the top 4. This is practically the same team that won the IPL in 2012. Even on the slow and low wickets of Eden Gardens have teams come and won. Away from home the pitches have been rather seam friendly. The real question is, would you break the core of this team and give them another chance next IPL? Maybe try out players like Tendo and see what happens in the remaining matches?

Also Shakib was there. Well he was dumb in this match v Mumbai. Thats for sure. Not to bowl out Balaji was a crime. But in general i thought that he has been ok. Not great but ok. Sakib might be the reason KKR have lost. He gave them a lot of balance last season

Narine will no longer be a mystery soon enough, especially on flat track. Players missing-McCullum has been suffering from injury and he was a key player last year. Also, KKR would have ideally have taken sakib over sena, considering that both offer the same with the ball, but sakib would have been a useful bat Another big question, when will Gambhir be smart and give a chance to RTD? RTD is the 2nd best T20 batsman in KKR team(after Morgan). Makes no sense to play senanayake and narine together, when both are specialist spinners and neither can bat. Also, what is the use of mc-claren when you have lee warming the bench? mcclaren isnt special

Pagalpanti Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Its simple Gauti has been stubborn with his team selection.. Benching Mccullum and playing Senanayke when in fact Iqbal Abdullah is a decent 2nd spinner and their batting was weak. Also not dropping Kallis despite his poor run.

The spin dept got totally imbalanced without him in KKR, plus he had this skill to push RR up in late innings with bat as well. Not so sure, Pune proally also could use Tamim Iqbal for betterment of their inconsistant batting order.

Sehwag flopped and so did Delhi. Yuvi flopped and so did Pune. Sunrisers are by and large a team dependent of Amit Mishra. He dictates most of their games. Yes there is the odd game some other players will rise to the occasion. But should Amit Mishra have a poor season that will do it for SRH. To some extent you can also add Steyn to the mix. RCB = Gayle + Kohli + ABDV. Mumbai are loaded with star power and so are Chennai so they are exempt from this list. Punjab:- Again pretty much dependent of individuals So Rajasthan, Mumbai and Chennai are the only team which seem to be balanced. Mumbai and Chennai out of sheer money power.

You need to have more inform players. David Miller was not even bought by anyone in two auctions. It is difficult to gauge who will click who will not click. DIfference is when you carry an out of form player you hope others to step up to the plate. In lot of teams that didn't happen. Even without Watson Royals were able to put together few good wins. That is because various players stepped up at various time. Gelling as a unit will bring the best out of even ordinary players. If you are merely collection few great players and badly led, it could even bring the worst out of great players.
