Crookbond Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Because we do know that the towel was used and those runs were given. That's all I as a cricket fan care about. I don't care about the legal technicalities or the jail sentence. I know that a certain player has ruined cricket here. As I have said before an owner betting on his own team/league is as bad as fixing. Of course you have not understood this in the past and so I don't expect you to understand now either There has to be enough evidence of fixing even in Sreesanth's case. I'm not sure what evidence police has apart from the towel and conversations. The only thing that can categorically nail Sreesanth (and other players coffin) is the money trail. I hope the police have access to it. For the highlighted, even in countries where betting is legal; that's not allowed. However, yoda's point is that Meiyappam is not the owner of CSK (contrary to popular evidence). He may not be the owner but it really doesn't matter. Even if Meiyappam is not the owner of CSK it shows that betting is rampant in India and has to be curbed. The problem with the rampant betting is that, it is done by people who are closely associated in the functioning of the team. There should be some legal procedure which looks beyond papers and can consider Meiyappam to be "like an owner" as he had access to facilities which the owner would have had. The legal procedures should also ensure that people who have appointed Meiyappam feel the pinch of their actions.
superstar Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Does Lalit Modi still own shares in RR? Seems to off color the past few days. He was on a roll before that with srini :D
Crookbond Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 ^ One of his close relative (brother in law?) does.
The Outsider Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Luckily the Tamilians I know in real life have a functioning moral compass and integrity. If my sample size was ICF with a few exceptions, I would have had a terrible impression of people from that state.

yoda Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I can see that some morons are retorting to personal attacks instead of arguing on the facts discussed. :nice:
bulbul Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Paranoid people always consider themselves as victims , time to come out of well and embrace the society.
Rob9 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 this guy sreeshant is innocent.they have trapped him.it's very sad to know real culprits are sitting out.ankit and chandila are the only one's who have taken money. biggest mistake of sreeshant was to openly criticize about few things on twitter later.
yoda Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Know what I was constantly trying to tell you was' date=' the bigger issue of an owner betting is conflict of interest which is as bad as fixing. Something any salaried, employed person will know about[/quote'] Can you respond to the posted message instead of parrotting about COI in every post? So what happened to all the evidence of match fixing and player collusion you claimed the Mumbai cops must have in order to arrest someone like Meiyappan? The courts claim they have none.
NameGoesHere Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Conspiracy against me by anti-South lobby: Srinivasan ............ Regionalism, the second last refuge of scoundrels it seems. He's going to take defence in patriotism next.
yoda Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Regionalism, the second last refuge of scoundrels it seems. He's going to take defence in patriotism next. If you think regionalism doesn't exist in India you are naive. Whether it had a role to play here or not, that is a different matter. Our selection panel itself has regional representation and each region has been reported to pimp for it's own players.

Did he bought CSK thru regionalism?
Sachin=GOD Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Did Seeni selected as BCCI president because of regionalism? Did he bought CSK thru regionalism? and more importantly, was he asked to resign because of regionalism?
yoda Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 and more importantly' date=' was he asked to resign because of regionalism?[/quote'] According to him yes. He claims one lobby was forcing it while others were willing to give him time to sort things out. Whether facts back it up or not we don't know cause the inner workings of the BCCI is anything but transparent.
yoda Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Did Seeni selected as BCCI president because of regionalism? Did he bought CSK thru regionalism? How is that relevant? Not actions have the same motive or MO. BTW Presidential selection is on regional rotation basis. So regionalism is built into the system where the other zones are waiting for their chance to take over.
bulbul Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 How is that relevant? Not actions have the same motive or MO. When something good happened to them people won't remember all these regional thing, only when things not going well all these comes out. Seeni should blame himself and his SIL for the situation he is in. I have posted a article on Seeni countdown thread, regarding a TNCA committee member resigning.

Whether facts back it up or not we don't know cause the inner workings of the BCCI is anything but transparent. he deserved to be sacked and is very lucky that he only had to step aside so whoever forced him to take this step certainly didn't do this out of regionalism.

bulbul Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 "IPL is here to stay. There are external problems in the league and we are going to address each and every element before next year," Patel told the Times of India. "Jagmohan Dalmiya (the interim BCCI president) is known to take tough steps and with so many senior officials around, I don't think these recent events can stall the league. Cricket is bigger than individuals." Says Seeni mammo's employers :giggle:
someone Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 What a silly poll and the results even more silly. And honestly, it makes me very sad that there are many who simply do not appreciate IPL. Our country can never succeed with this logic.
