Its not about whether they have power or not , its about whether they want a clean IPL. My concern here is whether BCCI is really interested in running a clean league rather than only getting profits out of it. [Not sure whther they run this like a game or business]

I doubt it is very wide spread unless the police decided to leave some players out. Look. Police accidentally came across this fixing when they were tapping one of the bookies. This doesn't mean that there are no other bookies fixed different sets of players.

Isnt this consisted of private people who are paid huge for their job. ACU chief is former Mumbai police commissioner. Regarding clean league, there is nothing clean in life. Corrupt people are everywhere. If inquired, even you might not come out clean. These things will always. There is no real cute of it. They have an anti corruption unit headed by former police commisioner Ravi Sayani is enough proof that they want to keep it clean. We have all the laws, police, CBI, IB, but have it been able to stop the crime, no. Good and bad are two sides of a coin.

Even if betting I'd legalized, most of the betting happens illegally and tracking is no easier than is is today.

Best they can do is work with law making authorities to bring a legislation to give exemplary punishment to those who caught. Fear psychosis may bring down the no of cases, if not completely eliminate it.

I don't think using Private agencies is illegal , what private agencies do is not BCCI business. As a custodian of game in this country , its BCCI job to save the game , even if it means bend the rules. Whom else we should blame then ? players alone?

UK is much more controlled than India. As for your second point that's exactly the kind of thing legalizing will prevent. Because then you will have to keep records. So any kind of huge bets placed on some random event will be thoroughly scrutinized and most of the time those bets won't even get money. So the scenario you mentioned will not happen in a legal setup
