We have Two NCERT books named Hornbill and snapshots and also a separate short story "The Canterville Ghost" In our syllabus we have Khalil Gilbran, Shakespeare, khushwant Singh, Shirley Toulson Etc.

So, my vacations started today and my English holiday homework is a pretty interesting one. I have to compare novels from the Victorian era and the Modern era on the basis of narrative technique, writing style etc. So If anybody can help me and suggest me some good novels to compare, I'd be really thankful!:icflove: I've read some classics like Gone with the wind, The Iliad, The odyssey, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and sensibility. So that might help a bit.
I suggest you go to England itself and compare there. I have been there, there is so many varieties in English literature that you can find heaps of books in London Library, which is one of the world's largest pubic lending library.

Interesting mix of writers. Strange that they are asking about Victorian literature without delving into it in the syllabus. Did you have to read any Dickens at all, even in earlier grades?

Going to England for homework :hysterical:
I can tell you how many times when I was in my school days when I have gone to different countries for assignments simply because I didn't want to research by just books and theory.

Ok ' date=' still wake up[/quote'] I can guarantee you I have american citizenship. I go there several times. I work for American based company as well. I shifted to America from India just 5 years ago. I finished my masters and am now working. But during my school days I used to visit places. Now I am not visiting because of work and lack of time.

From 6th to 9th we got Charles Dickens' stories as extra books. Pickwick papers was actually in the syllabus also. The only place I am going to in my summer vacations this time is Andaman and Nicobars. Even that's not for sure. :(( :((
