sm332 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 yup ... Indian team is wonder in the sense that folks from all places come together for one single purpose ... look at our current team
kumble_rocks Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 ^ I didn't know he was from Coorg ! Appears to a strong lad with good bat speed. Me thinks he is a FTB who will make Australia pay in India and also the fact that him being especially a predominant front foot player. Ideal FTB.
kabira Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 he has best pull shot in indian team.. did you see him pulling Mitchell Johnson out of the park...pulling off front foot and that too in front of wicket...that shows kid has lot of time to play his strokes..he just needs to get rid of those brain farts...

goose Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 don't forget that arm ! remember that crucial Collingwood run out at the Oval and the vital Nazir run out today ! and his part in the famous bowl out !
fineleg Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Great asset when we play on flat tracks. Predominantly PLONK the front foot, and THWACK! Fantastic fielder. When we play on seaming tracks, it is best to omit him from 11, keep him in the 15 for the tour. You will get flat tracks. I dunno if he will ever make the leap to TEST player, but maybe best he is an ODI and 2020 specialist.
sm332 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 true ... nothing abt him indicates that he has test match potential although one felt similarly abt Sehwag and look what he did in his 50 odd tests
fineleg Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 true ... nothing abt him indicates that he has test match potential although one felt similarly abt Sehwag and look what he did in his 50 odd tests True, Sehwag was unexpected success in Tests. So - keep playing Uthappam in ODIs and 2020, if time is right - give him a Test match series in Indian pitch after 1-2 years.
gs Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Technique is overrated. Its the talent and heart that matters!
sm332 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 on that i agree GS ... but you need some basics in place else you will end up getting found out like Akmal who cant buy a run right now
Anakin Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Almost all ODI pitches are quite flat and if he doesn't open it's almost certain that he won't be tested against swing in ODIs.
ludhianvi Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 i think this guy deserves a thread all of his own. what an arm ! Thats not Uthappa:P
