I said this a few days ago - Karthik and Dhawan should open. This should be the betting order: Karthik Dhawan Kohli Rohit Raina Dhoni Pathan/Jadeja.

since Vijay and rohit both look out of their league, and with players we have, it shud be: Shrikar, DK, Virat, Raina, MSD, Jaddu, Irfan, Ashwin, Kumar, Ishant, Yadav despite having only five specialist batsmen, jaddu, irfan, ashwin, and kumar are capable batsmen. and it gives us PLENTY of bowling options.

With Yuvi out I'd like DK at no.4 we need someone to stablize the innings if India lose quick wickets (like today vs SL) Rohit is a better bet than Vijay atm for opening spot (still its like crap replacing poop).

He should play in the XI. Give both Rohit and VJ a chance in the next warm up, whoever does better, stays.
what if both suck?

If they score equal runs off equal no. of balls, then Dhoni should do akkad-bakkad(or inki-pinki-ponky) and chose one.. lol. :giggle:

Dhoni has hinted as well that Vijay would be a starter (unless Rohit impresses in warm ups). and DK will be used as specialist batsman.

"It's good to have Shikhar and Vijay back in the side. They both scored runs in Test matches against a good side. Vijay had a decent T20-League whereas Shikhar did well after coming back from injury. It's always better to start off with two proper openers. Rohit will be the back-up option while I consider Dinesh as a specialist middle-order batsman," he explained. India will be playing outside the sub-continent for the first time since the new rules have been implemented and Dhoni is a touch worried.
