carnish Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I don't think so - the start of the season crowded with LOIs means that we won't face the juicy pitches like we did the last time. It will be some time in the summer and that in general is good for Test matches. Also, we have some decent bowlers as well (currently). I am a bit positive but yes you can jinx. :--D How come its the start of the season when we played the tests during the same time of the year even last time?? Yes, we will have ODIs earlier but thats because we are travelling earlier this time. Pitches will be as juicy as it was during December that time. Remember, we had played Boxing day test even last time. And if you think they will play ODIs on same pitches as Tests, then you will be dissapointed.
saneindian Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Win the test series? lol lets not get too ahead of ourselves. I would be more than happy to see the team avoiding a whitewash and putting good fight in all 3 tests
cowboysfan Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 will tendu play in the tour games or is it too taxing for him?
namasteji1 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Tendulkar will play the tour games of course, atleast one of them if he gets runs , otherwise should play both.
carnish Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Win the test series? lol lets not get too ahead of ourselves. I would be more than happy to see the team avoiding a whitewash and putting good fight in all 3 tests I know you are sane like your name suggests but I truly believe if we play Philander well, we can win this. We have the bowlers and the batsmen this time to get across the line. I'm sure we will see the difference. Only thing thats worrying is we have never faced Philander. I hope our boys get to face him in the A Tour during September.
ShebbySB Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Against SA we should play this XI:- Dhawan Gambhir Pujara Sachin(Last series) Kohli Rohit Dhoni Ashwin BK Umesh Shami Reserves:-Vijay,Rahane,Dinesh,Jadeja,Ishant,1 of Pandey,Sid Kaul & Aaron. I don't see Sehwag or Zaheer coming back in the side.

saneindian Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Scheduling the tests in 2nd half of December will give Sachin (and others like Sehwag, Gambhir, Zaheer, Bhajji) ample time to play lots of FC cricket in our new domestic season. Irani Trophy and at least 3-4 rounds of Ranji matches
carnish Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 What this means is this season will have many more ODIs quite unlike the last few years. India: 34-35 ODIs South Africa: 20 ODIs Pakistan: 30 ODIs Sri Lanka: 24-28 ODIs West Indies: 21-22 ODIs Zimbabwe: 15 ODIs Australia: 21 ODIs England: 18 ODIs
adi B Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 great, now the players can get a good practice and familiarize themselves with the saf pitches and at least the management and the captain wont give the same old boring reasons for losing the 1st test...whats the schedule though?

Updated in the OP.
Sachin=GOD Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 just 2 days gap between 2nd practice match and the 1st test - thats too low.
adi B Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 wow what a crowded odi series, minimum gap given, good that there is a 10 days rest gap b4 the 1st test
adi B Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 just 2 days gap between 2nd practice match and the 1st test - thats too low. most players will sit out in that match, those playing will not play to their full potential
Sachin=GOD Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 most players will sit out in that match' date='those playing will not play to their full potential[/quote'] then we'll be badly beaten in the tests.
surajmal Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 With 2 t20 and 7 ODIs of match practice, Rohit has a legup on Rahane on securing that #6 spot in the test lineup (assuming India opts for 7 bat + 4 bowler setup, which they should).
adi B Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 then we'll be badly beaten in the tests. even if they do play that PM,we still will get beaten badly :giggle: only hope is that cape town match where pitch will assist spinners and its good to bat on and of course rain!!
