IDK why people are using Hot spot to invalidate Snicko and vice-versa. There was a clear audio and there was a hot spot mark. You live by the sword, you die by it.
Sky commies said there was spot even before the ball. Snicko is not used in DRS. There was audio only..

Side angle showed the mark was already there before the ball got there.

I just watched the side angle again and I don't see the mark before the ball was there - in both cases. Both Cricbuzz and Cricinfo agree to me as well.

this..in short there wasnt much evidence to overturn the umpire`s decision i.e not out.. snicko is too slow hence cant be used in DRS.. DRS needs few changes then it can be ratified but what about the howlers from the3rd umpire

Contact with anything but the ball..
That's quite a theory. The bat was so far away from anything that the only thing it could have hit was the ball.
That is not the point. It was just luck that the correct decision was made. That does not mean the DRS process is not flawed. 3rd umpire does not get snicko. He gets hotspot and audio to make the decision. Hotspot and audio are both inconsistent. In fact hotspot showed a spot before the ball passed the bat!!!! Yes, snicko is reliable as it times the nick with the passing of the ball, but it is not available for decision making. There was not enough evidence to overturn the decision. Couple that with other dodgy decisions and the absolute howler of Broad's. Trust me, if this was India at the short end of the stick, effigies would be burning and you guys would be fuming on this forum. Aussies are handling it pretty well. Remember Sydney 2008. Indians are the biggest whiners!!!
Just calm down a bit; we are just discussing here. 1- I agree that the DRS process is flawed but this particular decision has got nothing to do with it. 2- The reason 3rd umpire does not get the snicko is because it is empirically proven that snicko is the worst of the technologies out there. 3 - There was no hot spot mark before the ball passed the bat - I can clearly see a spot after the ball passed the bat from the side angle. It was only the Sky commentators who saw something which we did not have access to. If that was the case, they should publish the pictures for all of us to see.

Seeing that reply again , hot spot doesn't seem to be there before ball passed , ball is not in picture when spot is visible. But the noise is very loud & with nothing near to bat they have to check the source of noise . For 1 moment it seems spot may be alreay there , as it visible when bat crosses the pad [Atherton just raised doubt for a moment but didn't elaborated it]

Maybe you are just plain stupid or a massive manipulator. We all saw the marks, it was not created by the ball. The marks were there fractionally before the ball went past the bat.

WRONG!! Snicko takes too long to process, that is why. 3 - There was no hot spot mark before the ball passed the bat - I can clearly see a spot after the ball passed the bat from the side angle. WRONG AGAIN....there were spots marginally before the ball passed the bat.

decision was correct though hot spot was not conclusive. i don't understand why snicko is not used. use snicko+ video+hot spot+sound and make the decision. individually each of the technology is unreliable but combining them will increase chances of correct decisions. Aussies can feel aggrieved but then Trott also got a really bad decision. Broad call was bucknor level though (probably even worse)
