I am answering Outy's post where he said Hadlee was quicker. Even Hadlee had lost pace in later years. Same for Anderson, he is not at his peak in terms of pace. When he debuted he was a tearaway, could bowl 140+ consistently.

As bowlers get old & experienced,they will move towards using different skills than out and out pace as it will improve thier longevity.

I am not arguing against it. Even today, Anderson's pace is very good, he was hitting around 84-85 mph which is pretty good for any fast bowler who can swing the ball.

MAy be time for some of our bowlers to concentrate on this aspect and supporters to support such bowlers :P [i know it took Anderson years]

A bowler who has skills can survive at that pace and rarely any bowler has such skills from debut onwards. Even Steyn did not have. Anderson was bowling most around 84-85 mpg average pace and I will take such bowler who skills any day, but Anderson does not have an extra gear in his pace right now, like Steyn has. Like last year when there was nothing happening for Anderson, he could not raise the bar against a better batting line. Steyn made it happen with his pace and then you cannot compare this Aussie batting to SA batting. Yes, Anderson did bowl well but look at the batsmen he bowled too. People should not make it like he was bowling to an ATG batting line up. Both SA and England batting were pretty much equally good and Aussie batting is nowhere near close any of them. There is only one world class batsman in Aussie team that is Clark. England last year had Strauss, Cook, KP, Trott, Bell, Prior, all better than any Aussie had at their disposal apart from Clark.

In the first 2 tests against Aus in Aus last year even Steyn struggled against similar batting lineup.Even for Steyn except for couple of batting line ups rest are all are average [he won't bowl against one of the best batting line up in world , his own].End of day its not only about against whom you bowled but how well you bowled.

This performance was all more admirable because he literally had little support from the likes of Finn. Tremendous number of overs bowled by him. Without Anderson England would have lost this match badly. If Anderson picks up and injury IMO England are struggling to pick 20 wickets even with this Aussie line up. It sort of highlights the issue of England. They have a fantastic team right now. Probably the best team for 30-40 odd years. But they are being surpassed by a better SA team. Nothing highlights this more than Anderson and Steyn.

Honestly g_b ,a hell no!!I don't hate Anderson ,he is fine bowler,it's just that,some times he is overrated by English fans,no doubt he has improved,but IMHO England are more dependent on Aandu and swandu,u can't trust barbie since he is a bit inconsistent and Finn who is a bit new at this stage.
