Yes' date=' the South A squad is announced. It is available on Cricinfo. Ontong is the captain, I guess.[/quote'] SA A side that is playing Australia in the unofficial test right now is: JL Ontong*, TL Tsolekile†, RR Hendricks, D Elgar, S van Zyl, RR Rossouw, VB van Jaarsveld, KJ Abbott, M de Lange, SR Harmer, BE Hendricks Attack: KJ Abbott, BE Hendricks, M de Lange, S van Zyl, SR Harmer : How good are these bowlers? They have been smashed for 399 runs in less than 90 overs by the ordinary Aussie batsmen. Either these bowlers are terrible or Pretoria pitch is a road which won't serve any purpose if we play there too.

Staffers have selected the same team for both India A and Aus A

Lange and Abbot both took 7-fers on their test debut and very good bowlers, Abbot is fast medium swing bowler while Lange is genuine quick, can clock 145K plus, swings the ball too and is a great upcoming talent. He also had a 5-fer in a tour game against Australia on their last tour to SA. No Idea about others. Though BE Handricks has fantastic FC record. Van Zyl is basically a batsman who can bowl a bit medium pace like Ganguly. Simon Harmer is an off spinning bowling alrounder in FC. Here is more about BE Hendricks.
Beuran Hendricks is an South Africa cricketer who plays for the Cape Cobras. He is a left-arm fast bowler capable of generating fearsome pace and has achieved success for both, the Cobras and his native Western Province cricket team.

South Africa's bowling coach Allan Donald has admitted his concern that fast bowling in Proteas cricket is lacking in depth. The legendary international bowler said that South African cricket needed more promising bowlers at domestic level to improve the game, although the national squad arguably has the best fast-bowling attack in international cricket, Sport24 reports. According to Donald, bowlers would be better prepared for top-level cricket if pitches are more favourable for batsmen. Donald said that the young Proteas bowlers should be taught how to devise strategies over the dismissal of batsmen at first class and Test level cricket to improve their game. However the bowling coach named Chris Morris and Beuran Hendricks from the domestic Lions and Cape Cobras respectively, as potential future stars. The second Test between South Africa and Pakistan starts at Newlands on Thursday. The Proteas currently lead the three-match series 1-0.

This might be the case.

South Africa A 614 for 7 (Elgar 268, Tsolekile 159) lead Australia A 474 for 5 dec By 140 Runs Dean Elgar and Thami Tsolekile both registered career-bests as South Africa A piled up the runs on the third day against Australia A. The pair added 267 for sixth wicket, Elgar falling for 268 and Tsolekile 159, as the South Africans reached 614 for 7 on a pitch that refused to offer the bowlers any encouragement. While Elgar already had a confidence-boosting hundred under his belt overnight, Tsolekile's century was an important innings for him. After controversially being overlooked last season, having been told he would be given a chance in the Test team following Mark Boucher's retirement, churning out hundreds is the only way to force himself back into the frame. South Africa's wicketkeeping situation could be entering a state of flux. Although AB de Villiers, who needs to look after a troublesome back, has managed to combine batting and keeping in Tests since Boucher's serious eye injury in England last year forced him to quit, he has been less comfortable in his triple role in the one-day side, which also involves the captaincy. He has handed the keeping gloves to Quinton de Kock in the ongoing one-day series against Sri Lanka and, if concerns emerge about his workload or fitness, there may yet be a chance for Tsolekile to earn another crack at Test level, if he scores heavily when chances such as this A-series present themselves. He could hardly have wished for better conditions in which to fill his boots. The winter pitch has offered 12 wickets in three days, with just three batsmen falling on the third. Vaughn van Jaarsveld's early exit to Chadd Sayers was a false alarm; Elgar and Tsolekile did not depart until deep into the final session. Tsolekile, with his fifth first-class hundred, plundered 19 fours and three sixes in his 256-ball stay, going past his previous best of 141 during the stand with Elgar that dominated the day for 72 overs. Elgar continued to accumulate in opportune fashion, given the looming presence of a fit-again JP Duminy for South Africa's Test middle-order. He picked off the Australian bowling with ease - although the quicks had long since decided it was a futile effort trying to flog too much from the docile surface - and easily surpassed his previous highest score of 225 before being stumped off Glenn Maxwell. Nothing over the first three days has suggested a clatter of wickets is imminent, but the South Africans, who lead by 140, could yet put Australia A under some pressure to save the game.

Seems like Australian batters were shown their true class in this game after a placid flat wicket in the first game :hehe: BTW, who is Nic Maddinson ... Looks to be good, scored 88 when everyone else failed ... And bigger question, why was he not playing in the first test??? Something bothers me about the current Aussie Selectors ... Keeping Bailey and Forest out of test squad and all. Is there a problem recognising talent or just ignorant??

Maddinson is a good talent.

I searched for his stats and he averages a paltry 38 in First Class and 27 in List A ... But since he belongs to NSW' date=' he has a good chance to get a look in early. Hope, he does well and gets into the side ASAP[/quote'] Barely any batsman average over 40 in Australian FC cricket in last 4 years because of pitches tilting in favor of seamers too much.

Tough tour an opportunity for players - Rajput

Lalchand Rajput, the India A coach, believes the side's "tough" upcoming tour of South Africa is an opportunity for fringe players to impress the national selectors for berths in the senior team. Rajput gave the example of the squad's captain Cheteshwar Pujara, whose fine performance on the A team's trip to West Indies last year helped him make a comeback to the India Test side, which is scheduled to tour South Africa in November.
