Huh? The legal claim AFAIK is filed with the Fair Works Commission (FWC) in Australia and not in a court of law. In addition, the legal claim is against Cricket Australia and not its players - some details expressing the legal claims makes allegations about a rift between Clarke and Watson. Frankly, there's nothing too new in there if one is following Australian cricket in the last 6 months or so. It is almost a dammed if he does, dammed if he does not situation for Arthur. Irrespective of that - I do not see any reason why there should be any moral obligation from Arthur to wait to file a legal claim. Arthur should act in his best interests and not of his ex employers. Just like his ex employers did not act in Arthur's best interests.

TBH, I don't think the Australian players will be bothered about it. The rift between Clarke-Watson would be very well known to this group of players - their team is more or less the same. Also, lets be fair to Arthur - he hasn't spoken one ill word about ANY player in the public even now. It's very unlikely he's doing that on purpose IMHO.

If Australia loses 2nd test match, Clarke may be gone as a skipper before this Ashes is over. He may be a good batsman and an OK technician, but the fool hasn't shown an ounce of leadership. Cricket Australia has been far too gentle with Michael Clarke. He was earmarked for captaincy before he even made his debut. Was allowed to skip test matches so he can mend his relationship with Bingle and was given a preferential treatment whenever he had disputes with other players such as Katich, Symonds, Hussey, and Watson. Normally, you don't expect bone-headed decisions from Cricket Australia but they have handled the entire Clarke saga pretty poorly. They should have dumped Clarke when they dumped Arthur just like ECB ditched Pietersen and their last English coach together but probably the pseudo Aussie-pride came in the way.

coaches have been sacked before on poor performance so he does not have a case. this will be more of a PR exercise. CA were successful in making a scapegoat out of arthur as if all the failures were due to him. with this move he is now shining light on the internal rift in the team and clarke lack of leadership in dealing with it.

Mickey Arthur and Cricket Australia have reached a confidential financial settlement over the circumstances of the former coach's sacking in June. After lengthy conciliation talks at the Fair Work Commission in Sydney, Arthur and CA emerged on Wednesday evening to confirm an agreement had been reached following a protracted and at times ugly severance battle. Arthur said he had accepted a "significant" reduction in his financial demands, which had reportedly been in the realm of AUD 4 million in compensation. "For me this was never solely about the money, I just wanted to be treated fairly and with dignity and respect," he said. Details of Arthur's list of claims had been leaked two weeks ago, including damaging allegations about problems between the captain Michael Clarke and allrounder Shane Watson, plus the South African's allegations that he had been discriminated against due to his foreign background. The leak occurred as the national team prepared for the Lord's Ashes Test, which the tourists went on to lose by 347 runs. Arthur was sacked at a meeting with the CA chief executive James Sutherland and the team performance manager Pat Howard in Bristol a mere two days before the official start of the Ashes tour.
