rixxuu Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 dhoni should not be in the test team except u are taking him as capten , i would go with prior for wk.
Bleed-Blue Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 dhoni should not be in the test team except u are taking him as capten ' date=' i would go with prior for wk.[/quote'] I Feel Dhoni Deserves to Be In Both teams... Dhoni Averages 77 this year whereas prior averages 28
Bleed-Blue Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Since Sep 2012 for top three wicketkeepers...ABDV Averages 67, MSD Averages 51 and Prior 46. Even though Abdv Averages more than Dhoni... Abdv can be in the team as specialist batsmen Due to lack of alternatives and Dhoni bats lower down the order so it is hard Average that High and S/R Matters more Lower down the order.

Dhoni has been the 7th best test batsman this year.
philcric Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Without looking at stats for the qualification period,, Test team in OP looks about fine. WK slot between Prior and Dhoni may be tight. Though Prior looks a better batsman, Dhoni played couple of outstanding test innings in the last 1 year. ODI team in OP looks problematic. Only 4 bowlers. Dilshan ... does he deserve a spot? Dhawan played about 10 games only. No Kohli ? Trott and Misbah both may not be required,, drop one of them and get a bowler instead ?
skindia Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Guptill instead of dhawan for odi and herath in place of irfan

Without looking at stats? Test team of the year will obviously be filled with players with better stats in the qualification period. Prior vs Dhoni is tight. I guess what Prior does/doesn't do in the Ashes will decide WK. Dilshan has been the best opener in this period. (708 runs at 64.36). The other opener can be Dhawan (515 at 51.5) but if you do the less matches criteria I guess it'll go to Bell (645 at 43) or Guptill (404 at 57.71). It depends on what Dhawan does this series and Bell in the post Ashes ODIs. One of these three will partner Dilshan. Bowler yes I guess Jadeja can be pushed one place up for another spinner. (Although Jadeja has been the BEST bowler this year). The other spinner will be prolly Herath/Tredwell (depending on how they do in their respective ODI series). Kohli averages 37.93. So no place for him.
deathmonger Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 EDITED. TEST Cook Amla Pujara Bell Clarke ABDV Dhoni/ Prior(depending on how he does in the remaining three matches) Steyn Anderson Philander Swann ODI Dilshan Guptill/Bell/Dhawan (Bell has series with Oz/Dhawan has series vs Zim) Sanga Trott/Misbah ABDV Dhoni Jadeja Herath/Tredwell (Depending how they fare in their series against SA/Oz) Bhuvi Irfan McClenaghan If 2 spinners play (alongside JAddu) Irfan gets kicked out. Both Tredwell and Herath play. ODI player of the year Jadeja Test player of the year Clarke/Pujara/Herath/Steyn Player of the year (in descending order of probability) Sanga/Herath ABDV/Anderson Dhoni/Bell Emerging Player Bhuvi/Root

G_B_ Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 In the period for consideration Dhoni should come in for the test matches . Tests Cook Amla Che Pujara KP Bell Faf Dhoni (averages highest among keepers) Swann Philander Steyn Anderson I dont think Kumar has played enough test cricket and neither has Misbah. ODI are much harder... Dhoni would not make that list IMO he failed with the bat in the champions trophy. Kumar Sangakara should make that one. Dhawan Amla Trott Kohli Misbah Kumar Sangakara (WK) Sir Jadeja Ajmal Morne Morkel Bhuvi Anderson (not sure on him had a decent champions trophy) Narine just misses out.....
deathmonger Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 Who will keep in OP's ODI team? 3 keepers in there Dhoni (As he is the "regularest" of keepers, having played his entire life as one)
