He had nine slots marked as "Private Meeting" and one of them was my interview time. I am not very positive about this one. Let's see where life takes me! I'll keep trying. As you applied for a position in same company 1.They know all about you , your work , attitude etc. so don't have to ask much anyway. 2.Internal politics - It happened in our company , where a guy wanted to move other postion , but his manager didnt allowed it saying either you work in same team or move out.

I tried to sort of chip in with "Oh I can relate with that" etc...but i had no way to tell them about myself. It was weird. Don't be too upset,if u r selected fine,but if not then this not the end of the world,try hard gain for a new job, you will surely get ur opportunity.

Once I went through an interview process which had 6-7 rounds and this was for an entry level clerical job at an insurance company. I made it and then the selected team was supposed to meet the center manager and we just hated each other. During the conversation things got so bad that I asked him " I wonder why someone hired you" . A week later I got a similar job in the country's largest company and within 3 months I was off the phone and in a programmer role. Don't try to adjust to get any job especially if you are not unemployed. Look for a role where you can be creative, you feel like you are actually making a difference and you'll enjoy and do well. if u work with an idiot manager or if work isn't interesting then you'll hate it for 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Rejections will happen all your life and as you progress, it'll get even harder to find an ideal role in an ideal company.

Ultimate_Game Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 @OP, This generally happens when the hiring manager already has someone for the position in mind, either someone internal or maybe his buddy/acquaintance, but still has to go through the charade due to the hiring process and HR policies. As an example, in my organization you have to have the position open for 3 weeks before you can close it and you have to interview at least a certain number of people (depending on the level/grade) before you can hire someone. This needs to be done to show how the organization is an "equal opportunity employer". Many times we already have an internal employee in mind for the role but still have to go through the BS of interviewing folks coz of the policy and it's just unfortunate. I'm sure you will be on the other side of the fence as well in the future.

I take atleast 4-5 interviews on a avg every week , close to 25 in the last week ..we are desperate to fill in 14 positions . it can be extremely frustrating and boring sometimes that you have very little patience by the end of the day ...the last ones I usually dont bother with long intros ...and in most cases you know in the first 5-10 (5-10 questions ) mins if your going to hire him or not ..not very often do you change ur mind , atleast true in my case

The things I look for are confidence, communication skills and ability to adapt/learn, most IT jobs are adaptable or learnable if the individual has the aptitude for it. Agree with outsider, be vocal and express your interest in the comp/team/position and have a clear picture of what you want to do and where you want to be, will help you quite a bit.
