Do India need T20 specialist spinners?

The thing about Sir and Ashwin is that they can bat as well. Ashwin has a good international T20 record with the bat as does Sir. Sir Jadeja especially needs a definition of what his role is. Is he a bowler who can bat or a lower order bat who can bowl a bit? I dont think he is either at CSK where he is a utility player. As i have said multiple times before. For the good of his growth in the T20 arena Sir needs to move away from CSK and get a franchise where he can bat in the top 5 and be expected to finish his quota of overs. I think he did well for the Royals and even the Tuskers when given a starring role. As things stand i would retain Ashwin for his all rounder skills. But i dont think we have the luxary of playing both Sir and Ashwin. Our pacers are not good enough generally so that means Indian spinner have to do well.

On the issue of Tambe. Yes he has bowled very well. But he has bowled well at his home ground in the IPL where he knows the conditions well. Rajasthan royals are a team that is extremely strong at home and poor away. I think we need to wait (and it might be too late for him by then) till he plays an entire IPL season. I am sure that with such a starring role in the champions trophy RR will retain his services. Not many good leggies around on the ipl circuit. Karn sharma Ladda Chawla Mishra and Rahul Sharma are the only ones i can think of.
