How are most of us certain that we will fail in SA? The same lot are unhappy with Vijay going to SA.
and who are they happy for ? we don't have grame smith or hayden in reserve you know...

Vijay's a hack. It's time to move past him. Time to breed new openers. The sooner we learn, the better. There should not even be discussion on this.

Let watch how Vijay goes about in SA. IMO, I said Rohit's a better option over Vijay.

Rahane, RISS There are umpteen openers out there better than the hack Vijay. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. There has to be. I've seen enough of Vijay

last time in south africa before 2011 world cup both vijay and rohit were sitting ducks in odis .. so to choose one over other would be same thing imo uness you are sure about some one who has it in him to score there you jsut cannot drop some one who is performing for no good reason and just because you feel that he will fail ..

based on what?
Based on my belief that he would do better than Vijay in SA. Did he not fail in SA A tour ? So what basis are you picking Vijay to open in SA? Runs in dust bowl or the recent A tour? What matters more?

rahane does not even opens for mumbai and he showed his class against finn he will play for india in middle order in coming series and if he succeeds he will bat at number 5

Rohit has improved miles since then and Vijay has regressed. Anyone with a good cricketing acumen can figure this out
yeah he scored some runs at strike rate of 70 in west indies (where he scored runs even before improving as you say ) and in england all racks were flat where dhawan was going at strike rate of 100 +

So did Rohit against Lanka but was backed by Dhoni and he went on to improve into a better batsman. Rahane's a middle order and so was Rohit.

If the middle order is clogged up (Pujara at 3, kohli at 4), Rahane will have no choice but to open. And he's from Mumbai. So by default, he will be ATG. If Rahane doesn't open than he will bat at 5 like you said, and another mumbaikar in Rohit Sharma will step up to the plate.

We all saw how tough the wicket was and how crucial those knocks were at the end of the day.

So what? He was supporting Dhawan. Vijay would have gotten out after cowlashing a couple of deliveries.

and same can be done with vijay no ? and best part is he is already scoring runs in tests unlike the other 2 guys lets get facts straight vijay 1. he is an opener 2. he is already performing in tests and has great series against australia and was our best batsman ircc 3. has not failed even once after that and you guys know he will again perform against windies at home and are praying for him to fail now lets see rohit and rahane 1. they are not openers 2. they will play first time as openers in south africa with no experience 3. one of them have not even debuted and other has failed n his first test against same side while vijay bullied on so called pattas 4.in all toehr formats they have shown equal weaknesses against moving balls . in short you want settled player who is performing to drop and replace him by middle order batsmen who themselves have not proved anything ? sounds like lot of hate for one guy for no reason to me.. if there is one proper opener who he is blocking then please replace him right now but there is none and substitutes you are suggesting are temporary choice who are more comfortable at middle order and in long run will play at middle order no matter what they say to get in team. BTW opening in odis is different from tests..best examples..sachin and saurav :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:

lets drop him from tests in south africa , based on your hypothesis that vijay will fail in england opening in odi attacking ? sounds like a great plan .

but they do not prove naything as rohit scored runs there before and still struggled in south africa they were tough conditions but totally different conditions form south africa delhi is tough track but in the end its nature is different from perth ..

I've seen enough of Vijay and know that he will fail overseas. I've seen enough from Rohit and Rahane that they will be successful at home and will be better overseas than mooli.
