Rohit as a test opener would be as big a disaster as VVS as test opener. Sehwag was an exception, should not become the norm to push MO batsmen to test openers especially with slots up for grabs in the MO. Also, Vijay is being written off prematurely. He was similarly called as a TTF before he made the comeback with two massive back to back test 100s. Deserves a run in the side. And assuming he does fail, you have Gambhir, Mukund for now and Chand and Jiwanjot should be ready in a season or two.
