Utalk Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 This Indian batting lineup is amazing. Transition from Sehwag, Gambhir and Tendulkar and taking your game a notch higher is simply incredible. You guys are rewriting cricketing pars and norms. These guys are making a joke of once near impossible targets. Likes of Dhawan, Kohli and Dhoni are scary proposition for any bowling unit. Once I saw Yuvraj and Kaif chase 325 and that was a rare feat and remembered as a classic but these ridiculous chases are not a surprise anymore. To me it all started in Aus couple of years ago when Kohli chased 315 in 38 overs. Now these guys don't think there is any target impossible anymore. I can't see any team beating this unit defending a target esp in sub continent. May be overseas they can be challenged but not in Asia. This must be a great feeling for Indian fans. I must say I enjoy these chases immensely because bar has been raised in the sport we love and there is no better sight then watching Kohli toy with good bowlers. Sharamnaak signature.
Scarves Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 On paper they are damn good. Even in tests. Dhawan Gambhir/Rohit I guess Pujara - I rate him more than Kohli Kohli Dhoni and so on. I just want to see them overseas minus Kohli because I've seen what he can do and he can play well anywhere. What happened to Manoj Tiwary?
NareshK Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I agree. Kohli is very very special. Dhawan is the attacking opener a team needs in ODIs but I think he has solid technique too. Dhoni is a great finisher. I honestly think they can chase any sort of total against any side most of the times.

So, we can safely say that this is an incredible batting lineup, with Kohli and Dhoni being very very special. If we get a couple of good bowlers this team can become an all time great ODI team.

Sure but he needs to succeed first before we go anointing him a great in Tests. Even Pujara needs to prove himself away. India are an absolutely smashing batting unit in ODIs but a long, long way to go in Test cricket. Can these young guys show the technique and resilience to ride out top class spells of bowling on helpful pitches with no field and short ball restrictions while trying to get a draw with no chance of victory? Maybe they can but its a lot different from beating up hapless bowlers on roads in ODIs.

They said it is a very huge feat in 1998. just by looking at score card, i can feel the thrill. 1-1 in first two finals, and pak scored an imposing target, india chased the impossible. That too against bitter rivals, and Pak has a better team on paper.

After 10-15 minutes the match referee asked the umpires to continue the match. And the commentators said it was very very dark when Kanitkar hit the winning runs. Gives me goosebumps still
