iPhone 5c for Rs 2,500 EMI: Is RCom risking it all with Apple contract?

The offer is mouth watering. With zero down payments for 16GB models, a subscriber would pay Rs 2,599 per month for an iPhone 5c and Rs 2,999 per month for an iPhone 5s for 24 months to Reliance. As opposed to the upfront cost of Rs 41,900 and Rs 53,300 for iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s respectively. The deal is all inclusive of usage charges, which includes unlimited calls (national and local), 3G internet and unlimited SMSes

Including data charges/calling etc.. Advantage is if they allow exchange of new models for minimum down payment in future [similarly how its done in US]

Saw comments on that page..

Reliance has clearly specified that people with credit cards can only buy the fone.. So its still limited . Indian banks dont issue credit cards for every person like the western banks do..
You will be billed the amount from your credit card when you buy the plan and the 2599/- or 2999/- is what you will get in your monthly bill to the creditcard company. Reliance is not giving you the phone for 2599/- but your credit card company is giving you the phone for 2599/- per months. ....So sorry to burst your scoot bubble, guess you will need to apply for a credit card immediately

IPhone is never priced in Rupees but in US Dollars. It wilk depend on the forex rate and excise duty to determine the final price.
rest of phones are not priced on rupees too its too expensive to begin with ..

I did not deny they were expensive. I merely pointed out that they do not make it expensive to Indian markets on purpose. It is the forex rate plus excise duty on imported electronic items which make them expensive.

BTW in america ,you can get phone for 199 on contract and 5c for 99 and at some places it will be free soon i know you have to keep paying for them in monthly billing but there is no difference between price of all flag ships this way.. over here you end up paying 20 k more for iphone..

Will think about it if Airtel comes up with a similar scheme. Reliance mobile and data networks are crap. Call quality is not clear and you get 100 kbps on a high speed data connection

Network is crap. They've stopped upgrading towers coz they're out of cash. Who would commit to 2 years on reliance when 4g is here????
Is 4G available already?? Does the Xperia Z support it? Isn't a major spectrum scam a precursor to launching of any such new telecom service? Never heard of a 4G scam yet.
