India had not ever had the luxury of having more then one world class bowler at one time and mostly not even that, with the emergence of Shami the selectors need to work on planning and creating a pool of talented pacers who can compete for a spot in the team and give options due to injury to bowlers. Aaron has made a promising comeback, Umesh is waiting in the wings, Suyal looks like a very good option for a left armer with pace and has skills, Shukla is raw but has pace and more so bounce of the wicket, Pankaj has been waiting forever, ISHWAR Pandey IS ALSO ONE WHO IS VERY PROMISING NOT EXPRESS BUT QUICK ENOUGH AND CAN BE A TEST BOWLER,BK is a decent line and length bowler with skills, Zak seems rejuvenated and might have couple of years left in him and can groom the bowlers especially the left armer Suyal. Umesh, Suyal, Aaron, Shukla, Shami can be impact bowlers and they can bowl above 140 k with ease and average close to 140's in a spell, also have skills and can move the ball, Unlike the batters talented pacers should not be made to wait for 5 to 6 seasons to mature as most loose pace and potency on our sub continent tracks, Shami showed us what potential and talent can do , selectors will be wise to look at this pool and beyond as bowlers who have promise and stop waisting their time on pretetenders who have no chance to make an impact, VK, Narwal, Mithun, Unadkat, Aravind, ISHANT IN HIS PRESENT FORM. ANWAR AHMED, Kamran KHAN, Aniket Choudhary, Kaul, Warrier are other bowlers that selectors need to monitor and groom because of their traits, they should be picked up for A tours and not rejects like VK, Narwal, Mithun, Unadkat.

Kamran played for SL domestic last year and did ok, seems like he has worked hard on his fitness and action and has gained pace and is bowling for HYD A in CK Nayadu tournament and doing well, hopefully he gets a chance for HYD as their bowling suck at present and he seems to be bowling well per reports.

It is a surprise with Patil and Pathetic Srikant who have both played Int cricket they , coaches, Dhoni are blind to the Obvious, Unadkat, Vk, Mithun dont have what it takes , it is nepotism and failure to work as effective team, Saurav, Tendulkar should be somehow involved for recognizing and pushing for talent, More, and some earlier selectors were better then Cheeka who was worst and Patio fails as a good visioNary as Far as bowling goes

Could be very exciting. But am sure selectors and dhoni will screw it up and stick with Ishants/Kumar and unadkunts. I feel unadkunt is the next loser who will be given a ridiculously long rope over next few years and picked again and again while we all pull our hair out.

Yes u r right , lol, I thought things would change with Fletcher but under Sreekant n now Patio we are becoming trundlerstan not for want of choice but selectors inability to see the obvious

From 2004-08 with the emergence of Irfan, Balaji, RP, Sreesanth, Munaf, VRV, Ishant, PK and with Zaheer on an upswing we had an equally good crop of pacers or perhaps even better than the current lot. Slowly all of them faded away due to injuries, loss of focus or lack of hardwork. Hopefully the current group doesn't go the same way.

I fail to understand the basis of selection for most pacers. You get rare gems like Shami and Umesh. But so many duds. Pacers' selection is used for pleasing the Sports Management Companies and influential people. Our captain is not very supportive or discerning about good pacers. So, I am not very optimistic about how many good pacers we will actually develop. BUT, it is true that we have some good talent coming through. Shami, Umesh, Aaron, Suyal, Pandey, BK, Dhawal, Mohit, Kaul all are good prospects. So many good guys but how many will get the chance to actually play in the 11 for some time.

For the first time in our history, we have 5 genuine fast bowlers -- Umesh, Aaron, Shami, Suyal and Shukla -- available for selection. Out of these 4 are wicket taking bowlers. What can be better than wicket taking genuine quicks !

Irfan was taking wickets for fun in his first couple of years, Bala was bowling 83-84 mph and bowled us to test wins on flat pattas in Pak, Sreesanth, Munaf, RP were all bowling 140+ in 2006-07 with Sree winning us a test in SA and RP in England with some of the best spells ever by Indian pacers.

u are right..during that 06-08 period we had a genuinely good pace attack which thwarted the english,aussies,saffer from scoring at their own den,they were close to world class just then IPL occurred :facepalm: ..those guys became unfit,lacked work ethics ,now i hope the management and the young bowlers have realised what they need to do after watching their predecessor`s demise

This lot is more faster and talented, Balaji, Irfan, Sreesanth, RP were 130 to 135 bowlers and when bowling well touched 140 s, this lot has an ave pace of 140, Shami, Aaron, Umesh, Suyal, Shukla can easily average 140, Pankaj, Pandey are 135 to 144 bracket and average 135 to 138 respectively, also this lot is more talented skillfull and fit as far as bowling fitness.
