bulbul Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Economist and NYU Stern Business School Professor Nouriel Roubini has sounded a major warning against housing bubbles globally and this time he has not spared India The 2007-08 global financial crisis was triggered by the collapse of housing bubble in the US. And now five years later, in a Project Syndicate column, Roubini has identified at least 17 housing bubbles that are developing across the globe Roubini writes that frothiness, if not outright bubbles, are reappearing in housing markets in Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and, back for an encore, the UK (well, London). In emerging markets, bubbles are appearing in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Israel, and in major urban centers in Turkey, India, Indonesia, and Brazil. http://www.firstpost.com/business/bubbles-bubbles-everywhere-even-in-indias-housing-mkt-says-roubini-1261725.html Not sure feel good or bad , at one hand it will help to bring down the cost but other hand it will affect lot of people :dontknow:

Clarke Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 The super-corrupt developing markets like ours might not have the expected boom-bust business cycle since its one way capitalism for the consumer and a mafia of the govt, builders and their financiers. Look at Mumbai for instance, there's an amazing amount of residential inventory lying around which shall require many more quarters to sell out but there's absolutely no price correction since a ton of black money is parked there. It would be great to have a giant bubble burst, an actual correction is indeed due but that's not happening.

randomGuy Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Quite clearly, house buying is not a lucrative investment option anymore in metro cities. One will buy to park his/her black money or for self use. The prices are not appreciating (as they have peaked) have started depreciating in many cases. Renting out gives 3-4% yearly returns, compare this to bank FD interests of 8-9%. I wont say its a bubble burst but its a self-correction and its a good thing. A big chunk of junta wants house in range of 10-35 lacs for self use. Will be grt if quality housing becomes affordable for them.
