CSK Fan Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 And we might have gone for more runs and still not taken wickets. That is why captaincy is difficult. Err, what more runs? Were the fast bowlers leaking runs in anyways? With the field out, its very unlikely they would have gone for runs. you can talk about captaincy once our overseas record is as good as our home record. Clearly, currently it is not. And using the same strategy we use at home is partly to blame for this We were clearly not looking to take wickets in the middle, it was a defensive ploy
Sid Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Problem with our pacers are that they are shyt. Does not make it easy for Dhobi. Fanboy :finger:
Sooda Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 And we might have gone for more runs and still not taken wickets. That is why captaincy is difficult. There is still no justification for Raina and Kohli coming on so early and bowling as much- when Shami and Yadav has 2/3 overs each left. The point is as everyone is saying needing to take wickets early and Rainas friendly offies do not achieve that, they allow the batsmen to settle in even easier with easy pickings. Yadav should have bowled one more over with the new ball and a burst instead of Kohli.
Sooda Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 How does 4+2+4 or. 4 +3+3 look. 4-2-4 though quite attacking leaves the midfield a bit light, 4-3-3 formation is the best

Zanjeer Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Yeah bring him back in the final over when he has bowled 5 overs in 3 spells. There won't be any rhythm at all. Unless you tried fast bowling in your life, its hard to understand this.
Zanjeer Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Watch ten cricket now. Even pat symcox is saying the same.

Unless you tried fast bowling in your life' date=' its hard to understand this.[/quote'] Shami bowled against windies 10 spells for 15 overs!!! Insane Then we eonder why the pacers slow down and get worse. Many just dont get it. Trundling culture is just too ingrained, no underatnding of fast bowling
express bowling Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 No good captain does the same thing every time. Otherwise' date=' why have a captain? Just give the instruction sheet to any player.[/quote'] In specific situations, yes ... Do something different. Not the case with Dhoni who seems to have a pattern of super defensive captaincy while fielding. It is rather a case of doing the same strange defensive thing rather than doing things differently. Also, the post was an answer to the accusation that many posters change what they want. I clearly outlined what I want in standard situations .The captain might obviously change it on special occasions, that is understood.

Trundling culture is just too ingrained, no underatnding of fast bowling The thing baffles me is that even after watching Mitchell Johnson running through the English team, people still don't get it. They argue after playing playstation cricket and think they can bowl line and length and get wickets. :giggle:

helperononline Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Johnson was given 3 overs spells in test match people here feel yadav is underbowled fast bowler are always used in short spell by most of the captain
Zanjeer Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Ok name me one bowler as fast as Mitchell show confidence in yadav and he will be as effective as any bowler in the world. Mitchell wasn't as effective as he is now. But they gave him confidence and look at the results now. Do you think what dhoni today would have given any confidence to yadav?
King Tendulkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 show confidence in yadav and he will be as effective as any bowler in the world. Mitchell wasn't as effective as he is now. But they gave him confidence and look at the results now. Do you think what dhoni today would have given any confidence to yadav? Its not difficult. Tell Yadav we will give you new cherry, come out bowl quick and take wickets, we will back you. He will know his role and feel confident as well Instead, one over spells, two over spells!!!
King Tendulkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I think what is expected from Dhoni is pretty simple. What most good teams do. If you have 2 aggressive quicks in SAF, like Umesh and Shami, give them 8 to 10 overs in tandem, 4/5 each unless they are getting smashed. Attack upfront aggressively for wickets. Give them confidence in their roles as wicket takers, early on because , with the two new balls, their is movement on offer upfront. Regarding number of overs in a spell for frontline fast bowlers, the standard and effective thing is 4 or .5 overs upfront, 2 overs in the middle , .2 to 5 at the end ... unless the bowler is getting smashed.1 or 2 over spells at the beginning, 1 over spells in the middle, inspite of decent bowling, may cause injuries and does not allow pacers to get in rhythm. This is the expectation everytime, no anomalies. Pretty standard stuff really. And this is exactly what SA are doing. Bolwers know their role, know the game plan AND ARE BACKED!
Sid Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 And this is exactly what SA are doing. Bolwers know their role, know the game plan AND ARE BACKED! 2 out of 3 wicket are taken by the trundler tsotsobe
King Tendulkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 2 out of 3 wicket are taken by the trundler tsotsobe Yeah but he knows will get good opening spell. Knows his role. No nagging doubt in mind if goes for 4 that will be hauled of after 1 or 2 overs
msb1991 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 And this is exactly what SA are doing. Bolwers know their role, know the game plan AND ARE BACKED! Or maybe, just maybe - their bowlers are better than ours.
King Tendulkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Or maybe' date=' just maybe - their bowlers are better than ours.[/quote'] Grromed, backed, developed, used in right way.... If SA bolwer who bowls 90mph was taken of after 2 overs after only going for 10 runs, we would all think SA skipper has gone mad
CSK Fan Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Or maybe' date=' just maybe - their bowlers are better than ours.[/quote'] Morkel was sh!t for a while. Was backed to the hilt and never used as a defensive option. Ditto with Johnson even when he was very average for a long time. Our captain uses our fast bowlers only as a defensive option and that tells
