Tau, do you know how asylum visas work ? :hysterical::hysterical: If the family has a passport, and visa to US, they can leave anytime. Is it so hard to understand ? :giggle:
You dont give visas to citizens of India living in India who have criminal cases againist them.Thats helping them avoid laws.If they were in US or any other country and US had given them visa it would have been different case. There is a reason Paratha Bharta called it evacuation and MEA reacted to it and Sherman distanced US from that statement of the attorney. No country has ever issued asylum visas to any citizen of India while he was in India.India has very relaxed rules for people travelling to US as US law themselves are stringent on illegal immigration. But by pulling off this stunt they have made lives difficult for their own diplomats and their workings in India.

Giving asylum visas to foreigners is not evacuation. For ****s's sake' date=' if india had a problem with the family going to US, why weren't the passports cancelled. US routinely gives asylum to thousands of people worldwide, including kashmiris and other affected parties in India. Nothing new there.[/quote']The same country which was bawling like a kid at Edward Snowden's asylum requests. Ok so your argument is that Devyani's family is very well connected to persecute the Richards family, yet powerless enough to not stop them from obtaining passports, US visas and leaving the country ?

Where is this coming from ? Is this the law ? I am sure enough *****u politicians with cases pending visit foreign countries all the time. Dude, you don't understand this. India HAS NO SAY where an Indian citizen may or may not go if he holds a passport. The PASSPORT is all that is needed for ANYONE to go where ever the **** they want to, as long as that country lets them in. If India did not want the family to leave, they should have cancelled their passports.

It is clear the Devyani's family is very well connected in India, and this alone is sufficient evidence that Richard's family would have suffered persecution in India (revenge/blowback etc.). Don't even try to deny it.
That is the phrase used by Preet Bharara, a white man trapped under brown skin.

Then why was US b*tching about Edward Snowden so much and why did it not cancel his passport ? After all if they did not want him out of the country, they should have canceled his passport.

Same incompetency as Indians in this case. The main difference is that he was out of US before he released the documents. Basically, there has to be some case/legal reason to cancel passport. Can't cancel it out of suspicion. The family was still in India when the Devyani case erupted and magistrate filed the case. So India ****ed up big, clearly.

Pak want's war with India. But India doesn't. So are you saying we are afraid of Pak ? No, because Pak is a downtroden country which and there is not going to be be more of a damage to them even if they engage in a war with us. But though, we can blow out Pak, it would only come after a considerable damage for us which we can't afford when we are on a good trajectory of growth. Similarly we can't compare ourself with Venezuela's, Cuba's or Ecuador's of Anti american stand. We also should remember that Devyani bhabhi is not 100% clean on this case.
:hysterical: WTF

I don't see what your point is. Of course US wants Snowden here so they can prosecute him, and they will whine about the asylum.

Not my argument, but probably Richard's. Dunno when the passports were issued.

:hatsoff: to mother of all arguments i.e. Coconut argument. :hysterical: Other countries use Diplomatic immunity in cases of spying and all. But our incompetent offices and officers never need it for purposes of spying and wants to use it for slave trade and human trafficing. What next Rape and murder?

according to the indian media, it was not a case of devyani promising the sky and delivering nothing once the maid was in usa. They said it is a well known system where both the parties know the amount put up on the visa will not be paid, only the amount as agreed in the second contract is. That's how it is for all indian and many other country's diplomats as they cannot afford to pay us wages. The maid agreed to this, landed in us, and then within a few months used the amount agreed upon in the us visa documents to make a case on devyani.

LOL.Few media sources reporting that Sangeeta may be spying and that India may prosecute visa officers who issued Sangeeta the visa. The belief in the Indian establishment is that that US state dept/US immigration bureau/US embassy in Delhi and other were all involved in this.

Just curious how can a diplomat hire someone and bring to US, under what visa category ? also wouldnt the maid have an ssn and go through the whole pay stub, w2, fedral, state tax ssn etc so there should be all the records

I am confused as to why she was strip searched?? The crime for which she was being arrested doesn't sound like one where strip searching is needed ( which would be more for hiding drugs, weapons etc)
