Btw Chief of Modi's PR agency is the Ex-CEO of Hansa Research. ----- Few winners from UP as of now - Kumar Vishwas Kejriwal Shazia Baba Hardev Javed Jaffrey Rioter from BJP in Muzaffernagar (cant recall the name) Varun Gandhi Menaka Gandhi Mulayam singh from Azam garh Sonia Gandhi
The ones in bold would have a very hard time saving their deposit.
This is the most ridiculous stuff I have read for a while now. Are you saying that people who have decided to vote would see this and get complacent? :wall:
I am talking about people who traditionally have been BJP supporters but on voting day many a times they don't turn up to vote - every BJP leader acknowledges that a number of BJP supporters are like this. So for such voters, a survey which shows NDA comfortably forming the Govt may be reason enough to sit at home on election day.

Priyanka Gandhi drinks too much alcohol and has a bad name, says Subramanian Swamy

Congress party workers protested outside the residence of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in Delhi on Tuesday for his vitriolic attack on Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra launched on Monday. Commenting on reports of the willingness of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter to contest elections from Varanasi, Swamy had said on Monday that Gandhi would have been thrashed if she had done so as she drinks too much alcohol and has a bad name. Also read: Priyanka drinks too much alcohol: Subramanian Swamy "They saved her. She would have got a thrashing. She is very unpopular, she drinks too much alcohol and she has a bad name, her husband has a bad name," Swamy had said. A day earlier, Swamy had called Priyanka Gandhi an ungrateful daughter for going to see the prisoners in jail who assassinated her own father. Later, taking on the Varun Gandhi issue, Swamy tweeted, "Good luck to Varun. One Nehru whose blood is 100 percent Hindustaniyat. No wonder Booze and Buddhu jealous (sic)." Congress spokesman Ajay Maken said: "Subramanian Swamy's statement crosses all limits, we condemn it. Use of such words against women is unacceptable." Swamy reacts on protest Later, condemning the Congress workers' protest outside his house, Swamy said, "How will democracy function if they will behave like criminals?" In a lighter vein, Swamy added, "More people showed up than Rahul Gandhi's meeting." Clarifying his stand on his earlier 'alcoholic' remark on Priyanka Gandhi, Swamy said, "All I said was Priyanka Gandhi should quit smoking and set an example. Why doesn't she say she doesn't drink?" Earlier, the BJP leader had also tweeted about his remark: "First Amrinder's failure to disclose illegal account then Booze and final Robber's fraud. Wait for Namo's Special Courts . Within one year!" l

AAP is not going to win out of any of the three big ticket seats. It is about marketing themselves as an alternatives to the bigwigs by engaging in big ticket fights. If they do, it will be a death blow to the political aspirations of the defeated candidate. Modi's PM aspirations would be dealt a huge blow if he isn't even able to win a Hindutva stronghold. Same with RG in Amethi

That NDTV survey was crass. I am not 100% sure that it will benefit the BJP. Many people will decide to vote tactically against the BJP. Even the BJP cadre might slack of. Fundamentally though India must be the only country in the world which conducts an election over more than a month. 5 weeks to be exact. I can understand 2 weeks but this phase wise voting for so long really has to end. You leave yourself open to abuse. It would be interesting to see how China another developing country with similar population to India conducted itself in elections. Alas they have a one party system.

Am I missing something here ? If Modi loses from Varanasi and NDA gets 280, what tops him from being PM.

From what I know, one of the biggest reasons for holding multi phase elections stretching over 1 month is the security issue - a large number of security personnel have to be made available in almost all states so if the elections for too many states happen at the same time it would be a big security risk both to the people and to the leaders.

India needs more policemen and women. We have the lowest number of security personnel per capita. That is a really lame excuse. It does not look good for India when their premier domestic tournament and IPL has to shift out of the country. So as our population grows by 2050 we have an election spanning 2 months?

and believe me next election time me thinks channels are going to start showing exit polls even before the election is over. Its going to happen. They would rather take the fine then miss out on eyeballs. and i sort of dont blame them either. Election polls is like sex to these channels. Its like abstaining from sex for 5 weeks. NDTV has just jerked off in order to reduce the pressure.

All that is a rather long term task so for the next few election cycles (I mean at least 15 years) we are definitely going to see elections stretching over a month.
