Modi himself is hardly an orator. He is a shouter and uses tons of rhetoric. That is fine when you are in opposition but once in government you have to talk actual policies. That is unless there is a bogeyman on whom all of India's troubles could be blamed on even after Modi takes power

Parrikar for eg has only recently become CM again. Prior to that he bungled the entire campaign and lost out to some weak congress candidates lIf BJP had significant presence in South, due to Congress incumbency BJP would have been in a much better position. Their choice of PM candidate would not have been based on popularity. In the current scenario, they need to ensure victory in a high majority of the seats. hence going by popularity

I am saying based on my facebook interactions. There is overwhelming support for him there. Only mistake they have done there is they should have fought there alone. a small sample size I guess. Dont expect BJP to make any impact in the South. It will be through a coalition if at all. Has AAP made any impact in the South.

Again, we assume that upper middle class India = whole of India. On the ground among the masses, Modi has very little support in TN. Gaptain is the only one who can pull votes on his own. PMK and Vaiko need an existing base to tack their own votebanks to. to reach a winning number. If BJP would have fought alone, they wouldn't have won a single seat.

Thats the point. Effectively making some 60% of India's population. Can Sonia or Rahul do that? any language apart from hindi? Rhetoric and oration go hand in hand. Its how you frame your argument/speech is what matters.

There is no OBC voting bloc which votes in a uniform way. Heck some castes are OBCs in one state and GC in others. In TN there are OBCs and other MBCs some of which are loyal to their caste outfits.

In TN there are OBCs and other MBCs some of which are loyal to their caste outfits. that can be said of every group. However the core of the BJP's base in UP are several non yadav OBC groups. Thats the one he targets. They vote for him because he is an OBC amoung many other factors.

Initially Anant Kumar thought that Nilekani would be an easy opponent because he had no political experience but Nilekani has started a brilliant social media outreach campaign to reach out to a lot of people and to create a buzz in Bangalore and apparantly that has worked well.
